So ... turns out that those studios that "made" those DLSS 5 clips didn't know anything about it, either. It was obviously Nvidia, hence why they all look the same.

@Nadeshot Specifically, it alters the face using GenAI to make it try to look lifelike, but because it's not there yet, it's in the uncanny valley where we can tell it's AI and really looks off. It also alters the style and took 2 5090s to render.

Genuine question, why are people mad about this? I’m really not even trying to be dismissive or sarcastic here. Why in the world would anyone be mad about this?

When art directing you need to design everything towards a quality bar. We accept that games don’t look real because the anim, textures, lighting all hit about the same bar. This looks incredibly off because the texture and asset bar is way above the animation and general movement. Photo realism with game level anim will always look incredibly off.

Nvidia unveiled the worst feature for their videocards I've seen; the uncanny valley effect is awful. I'm not a purist, I don't think artistic direction is sacred, it's subjective and sometimes can be improved upon, but wow, I wouldn't trust this. youtube.com/watch?v=dJACkK…

@digitalfoundry The presentation did NOT do a good job showing RE Requiem. Grace did NOT look good with DLSS 5. It's in the uncanny valley of weird with Grace's eyes.

@makjbldo You don’t need a navy to effectively close Strait, just drones, mines, and missiles.

Most Bibles contain maps illustrating where important biblical events took place. You can visit the ruins of cities described in the Bible. If you get atheist, Christian, and Jewish scholars together, they can roughly agree on where the events allegedly took place and confirm the existence of cities and sites in those places, even if an atheist or a Jew denies certain miracles or historical events took place there. Nothing comparable can be said about the Book of Mormon.

@LynnieVT42 Given that Gen 10 is not coming out this year but is given time to develop, I think there’s a good chance that the game turns out well. The reason why the current line of Pokemon games don’t do well technically is because they’re yearly releases to align with anime and tcg.

@SamHain31st Image wise you may not notice, but when you actually play the game you WILL feel it. Motion at 60 fps will feel less choppy. I know this cause I bought the Switch 2 editions of TOTK and BOTW and I could tell the difference.

Am I the only person who plays video games that doesn't notice frame rates? Like... I do not understand the appeal lol.

@PracticalTAS @VarsVerum But doesn't this mod work even with the worst of 1% cases? Didn't someone also release a mod that is more stable but reduces latency by 2f instead of 3f?

@VarsVerum A lot of the native latency is to hopefully have a consistent experience no matter what’s happening on screen (multiple characters, items, lots of particle effects, etc). If you only optimize for 1v1 no items, and don’t worry about the worst 1% of cases, you can cut a lot of lag.

How is it that a guy with some free time and knowledge of the game's code and firmware can do what a multi million dollar team couldn't??? This only shows you that we could've had an excellent online scene for ultimate if only the devs just TRIED to make an effort to.

@blacknwhitefut @Stealth40k I mean, that's the power of Ultimate: at its fundamental level it has some of the best gameplay of Smash Bros, only made worse by some broken characters and stuff that CAN be patched. We KNOW SSBU can be patched, and that's the hope a Switch 2 version can bring.

@Stealth40k Well this game hasn’t been playable in years. How you guys can consistently support a fighting game that stopped supporting itself years ago is ridiculous. It’s absolutely unacceptable that balance changes stop with smash so early on every time. The game becomes so unenjoyable

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is currently #1 on the Switch eShop. What Nintendo does with Smash Bros. on Switch 2 is perhaps the biggest unanswered question so far.
