After this set, RapMonster went on to get 2nd place at a major. I just need to take a moment to stress how unfathomably incredible that is. RapM just became the highest placing Luigi player of all time, and he's a young student who was literally doing homework at the venue while the event was happening. This record was set by Plup nearly a full decade ago (5th) and was just shattered in a game that's over 24 years old. He is younger than the game itself by a handful of years. Within the past few weeks, he has already done the impossible multiple times. He was able to take a set off of the current best Falcon player in the world (Wizzrobe), a matchup many thought was an auto-loss for him, and not only did he just make top 8 at a major for the first time, he was only 1 spot away from winning the whole thing. In a game where many people thought the future of this game would be nothing but perfectly played Fox dittos where sets are determined by port priority, it is instead being taken over by a bunch of kids playing characters like Donkey Kong, Pikachu, and Luigi. This Luigi player in particular looks like he has what it takes to go all the way. You never know what the future will hold.

@Kazun0ki The right side of Stadium's Fire transformation has 2 floor segments which overlap but aren't connected. It looks like you were standing on the left segment and smash di’d to the right when you got hit, which put you under the right segment & allowed you to fall through the floor

@tangotiger Maybe need to filter out the “it’s the 9th inning and we still have both challenges and it would be really helpful if this obvious strike was actually a ball” challenges that aren’t really expected to succeed

Expected Prob you see above is how other players are challenging similar pitches. We see fielders are smarter about their challenges, as they challenge pitches 3 inches away barely above 0%, while batters are challenging upwards of 10% in some cases Catchers have a handle on ABS

These are all the ~1000 lost ABS Challenges so far Width of a baseball is 2.9 inches, so any challenge more than 3 inches is a silly challenge (a full ball away), as umpires are right on those 90%+ of the time We see challenges even 5 inches from the strike zone border! 1/2

Since there are a lot of new players looking at Melee right now, I highly highly recommend looking at meleelibrary.com, an absolutely massive source of links and info. It's really long, so for now, just read the first section "how to search" and keep it in your history.

@VGBC_GimR If you complain as hard about this as you do about a ban, and you loudly refuse to attend the event, it’s more likely that it won’t get adopted by other tournaments or Nintendo will step in to prohibit it. If you quietly accept it, it’s more likely to see widespread adoption.

Why are so many people acting as if Supernova's Steve Stage clause is the same as banning the character? Do people really think him not being able to mine iron every millisecond hurts the character that much? He can camp and wall himself in the corner regardless of stage.

Supernova 2026 Smash Ultimate has adopted a new anti-Steve rule: If exactly one player/team picks Steve, their opponent gets to pick the stage from any legal stage (even a counterpick in game 1), with no bans. If you watch Ult: do you like this approved way to nerf Steve?

@ApolloKage He got 5/5 a year and a half ago. Since then, nobody has beaten any of those 5 times...except himself. He's lowered 4 of his records.

For those who aren’t aware Suigi is likely the best Mario 64 Player to ever do it. For the first time (maybe ever?) he acquired the world record in not just all 5 speedrun categories, ALL 5, AT ONCE. They had to place a monetary bounty on beating ANY of his current records. 🐐
