@scrapinearth Were any of them from Alberta? Because the ones I know from Alberta were good. The rest of the provinces, not so much.

Some of you undoubtedly have very strong opinions about Dan because of his role as FBI Deputy Director in the Trump administration. I'm not going to entertain any of that BS, I'm sorry. If I get exposure, especially positive coverage, I'll take it and run. If political commentators like my content, then that is fine. Word on the street is that some of my material has been circulated through the White House, too. If CNN or MSNBC aired hit pieces, that's fine as well. It widens my audience up, which helps me in the long-run. We all have our political views. I have mine. But I'm a meteorologist first, not a political commentator.

@japan_nobunaga We( my lady and I ) do permaculture type stuff even on our small gardens and lawn. Compost, and using straw and cardboard to choke out unwanted growth ( i dont believe there are any real weeds ) Although i here bamboo is relentless lol thankfully it doesn’t grow wild here.

Honest lawn question from Japan 🌱 American front lawns look like a part-time job. Mow. Water. Edge. Repeat. In summer it feels like a relationship. In Japan, many homes don't have that kind of lawn culture. So… why does the lawn matter so much? Pride? Habit? Neighbor expectations? Or do you actually love it? I genuinely want your take 🙏

@PhooeysPhosters @robertputnam58 Dude i knew a really bad guy. They couldn’t prove anything on him. But what they did do was arrest him on some sort of charges, hold him in remand for 3 years, and he would win. But six months later more charges to beat. He was fishbelly white from no sunlight.

For a long time, England had the prevention of terrorism act. If you were suspected of terrorism against the state they could hold you for 7 days and 7 nights without charging you. Not letting you talk to a lawyer. That kind of law is coming to Canada.

Big Problem with Kerr's Run ... ... the wind, altitude and track conditions appear to be equivalent to Guerrouj's run in 1999 ... but ... ... the shoe technology is very different Grok says: Yes, there was a clear technology advantage in 2026 compared to 1999. You're right to notice it — it's one of the biggest differences when comparing the two mile world records. Here's a balanced look at the main technological edges Kerr had: 1. Shoes (The Biggest Factor) 1999 (El Guerrouj): Traditional track spikes — basically lightweight shoes with pins for grip and minimal cushioning. No energy-return tech. 2026 (Kerr): Custom Brooks Hyperion 222 super spikeswith advanced foam midsoles, carbon-fiber plates, and biomechanical tuning made specifically for him and the mile's demands. Modern super spikes can return noticeable energy with each stride. Studies show super spikes improve middle-distance economy/speed by roughly 1–2%(often 3–6+ seconds over a mile for elites). That's enough to turn a near-miss into a record. 2. Other Tech & Support Advantages Racing suit — Kerr had a custom aerodynamic Brooks speedsuit; 1999 used standard singlets. Training tools — Altitude camps with precise monitoring, GPS watches, recovery tech (sauna/cold plunge, sleep tracking), and data-driven coaching were far more advanced. Track surfaces — Both were on high-quality Mondo tracks, but modern ones are slightly faster. Nutrition & recovery — Better supplements, hydration, and physio (Kerr’s mum is a physio and was with him). Perspective El Guerrouj’s 3:43.13 was an unbelievable achievement for its time — it stood for 27 years against generations of runners with improving tech. Kerr’s 3:42.66 is faster, but the gap isn’t purely “talent” — equipment and science have moved the bar. This is common in sports: records accelerate when technology leaps (think swimsuits in the 2000s or carbon-plate marathon shoes). World Athletics still ratifies these as official records because the advances are available to everyone, but it does make direct “who was better” comparisons tricky. Would El Guerrouj have run faster in 2026 shoes? Almost certainly. Would Kerr have broken the record in 1999 flats? Probably not as easily.

New World record for the mile. That's 26.07km/hr. My treadmill taps out at 14. I used to be able to sustain 12.5 km/hr for about 15 minutes in my prime. These days I jog at 10 km/hr.... on a really good day. It's crazy what the human body can do.

@TVBCRehfer @terrynewman We cant afford to coddle people and spare the rods my friend. As a taxpayer i hate the idea of giving out harm reduction tools to keep people going. As a drug addict i loved it but ill tell you what they weren’t always appreciated. (Discarded everywhere used and unused debris)

@TVBCRehfer @terrynewman As a person who doesnt touch drugs anymore why would i carry naloxone ? Why are we saving stupid people that do dangerous drugs knowing that it could be the last every time they do it ? I always kinda said a prayer before doing it. Hope they do too.

Do you carry naloxone? In Ontario it's free at any pharmacy. It's handy if you call 9-1-1. If they tell you to use it you might keep someone alive long enough for the paramedics to arrive. The effects can wear off and 2nd and 3rd doses might be needed. The real solution is not more drugs on the street. The real solution is treatment and mental health services. I fear Canada has chosen drugs because they're cheaper and easier than treatment and mental health.
