Please donate to our ongoing legal battle with #Rusal. The largest Alumina refinery in Europe dumped its toxic waste near the Shannon Estuary for decades. We recently prevented Aughinish expanding, but we need to keep the pressure on. gofundme.com/f/legal-case-a…

Brilliant letter - crystal clear, historically informed and entirely reasonable. So far ahead of the 'public' commentary and Government PR we are used to hearing on this.

@PBresnihan Ireland is a bit player in World affairs. Our " soft" power is overhyped. If war comes, paper neutrality is a useless security blanket. No- one will respect it. We do have a responsibility to defend ourselves. Defending your people and homes is not militarisation.

@SadhbhO @greenparty_ie Appreciate your grace but LNG isn't just any one issue in our opinion. Advocating for building new fossil fuel infrastructure is not a green policy but it is a policy that Green Party voiced in correspondence with voters and even in their election manifesto.

Hi there anonymous account I was trying to be gracious and reflect on the whole of the past 5 years not just one issue. I stood for Labour myself and am proud that our climate policies were regarded by independent experts as superior to those of the greens. As environmentalists surely you too are concerned about the absence of environmental voices in the Dáil??

What will Dáil Éireann look like (and sound like) with no Green Party representation? The loss of at least 11 of the party's seats means that effective advocacy of fast and fair climate action falls to the other left parties. It is important to acknowledge the achievement of the Greens in putting climate action at the heart of the last PfG and delivering on the vast majority of their commitments.

@SadhbhO @greenparty_ie Hi Sadhbh, we are not anonymous, we got a message from Twitter about our account being restricted. My name is Sinéad Sheehan writing from this account. We will be very concerned if Soc Dems or Labour don't get in because that would mean an absence of environmentalists in the Dáil

@SadhbhO Oh come on Sadhbh. A hugely important red line issue for the @greenparty_ie was LNG. And they ended up supporting a state-led LNG terminal while denying that it would import fracked gas. That is why they lost the majority of environmentalists.

But for whatever reason, the party's message and/or candidates did not resonate with voters. It is important also to recognise the impact of years of social media attacks on the Greens which whittled away support for the party. And the dismissive attitude of coalition partners FF and FG towards their junior partner in govt.

@CorkGreens The Greens lost seats because they didn't fulfill their red line promise against fracked gas importation. The fact is that the Greens advocated for a fracked gas import terminal and their election manifesto was less environmentally friendly than @SocDems. Take some responsibility

docs.google.com/presentation/d… Ireland's issues in health, housing and education will be exacerbated by climate change. The new government must take immediate action on LNG policy. Here is a guide for voters to see what parties say about the jugular of Irish climate issues

Sinn Féin in government would reduce VAT for the hospitality sector and small business owners to 9%. This permanent measure would give much needed support to struggling businesses such as restaurants, cafés and hairdressers. Just last week, Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil rejected this proposal, showing yet again that they cannot be taken seriously when it comes to supporting small business owners. It’s time to change the government! #TonightVMTV #GE24

"The withdrawal of two key climate memos from our last Cabinet agenda was in my mind a political mistake by Fianna Fáil & Fine Gael. Their close association with the disinformation Michael O’Leary has been spreading only makes matters worse." - Eamon Ryan irishexaminer.com/opinion/commen…
