"Russia is considering replacing Putin" - Garry Kasparov "More and more members of the Russian establishment, along with ordinary citizens, are coming to understand that Putin cannot achieve victory in this war. History shows that when a dictator launches a war he cannot win, serious problems eventually follow," Kasparov added.

@HormuzLetter Idiots.. just looking for a way to NOT sign this agreement. Trump’ been trying to get this signed at least 40 times. And while the world media makes fun of Trumps attempts we now know it’s the IRGC leadership that is refusing to sign and looking for any reason to delay.

BREAKING: Iran directly rejects Trump's new claim of a deal being signed tomorrow, saying the insistence on signing the deal on specifically Sunday is engineered around his own birthday, calling it a "propaganda event" that Trump is trying to turn into a unilateral "symbolic occasion" for himself, along with his UFC White House event, per Fars. The Iranian negotiating team says it "will not permit such a media and ceremonial manoeuvre," explicitly stating that the memorandum of understanding has not been finalized and no signing will happen.

🇺🇸🤯🇷🇺 "Trump has been kissing Putin's ass for years." A sitting US Senator. On the Intel Committee. Said it on camera. US Senator and combat veteran @CaptMarkKelly, in an exclusive interview, says Putin didn't just benefit from Trump's deference — he exploited it. And Ukraine is paying the price. "Putin has played Donald Trump in a way that has clearly benefited Putin and put the Ukrainians at further risk." This is a member of the Armed Services and Intel Committee. Not a pundit. Not an op-ed. That's not incompetence. That's a pattern. Full interview in first comment ↓ | Extended cut for X subscribers @SenMarkKelly

The United States military was about 3 hours from launching strikes on Iran when the president stood it down. What stopped the war was not Iran’s signature. It was 3 phone calls. Politico reports the UAE president, the Qatari emir and Pakistan’s army chief rang Trump with one message, a deal is near, hold the bombs. That morning he had promised to hit Iran very hard that night and to seize the island that handles 90% of its oil exports. Then came the peace. Trump announced a settlement approved, he said, in concept and great detail by 11 governments, with a signing maybe this weekend in Europe. In the Oval Office he described the document himself as a very strong memorandum that is “a little conceptual.” The corrections beat the ink. Israel, which he listed among the approvers, said within hours it is “not a party” to the memorandum, even as it praised his commitments, and per Axios its prime minister was not told in advance. Iran, the only counterparty that matters, says no text has been approved, though its outlets signal approval may yet come, and its semiofficial Tasnim agency advised the world to weigh Trump’s statements against his previous claims. His own announcement kept the naval blockade in full force. The same night, per a US defense official, Iranian drones went after commercial ships in the strait. Two were shot down. The market has seen this film. In March he paused strikes for talks Iran denied existed. So Brent slid to $88.55, its lowest since mid-April, down more than a quarter from the war peak, and open interest collapsed to its lowest since March 2025. Traders are no longer pricing the war or the peace. They are pricing the announcer, and they are leaving the table. Asked on Fox about the island he had vowed to take, he said, I don’t know that America has the stomach for it. He calls his settlement a little conceptual. For now, so is the peace.

Trump’s Trafalgar Moment Trump’s Iran deal is best understood through the lens of Trafalgar: a decisive victory that does not end every conflict, but closes the enemy’s best route to success and reshapes the strategic landscape. By reopening the Strait of Hormuz, blocking Tehran’s path to a nuclear weapon, and cutting off the financial backing of global terrorism, Trump has broken Iran’s core leverage without a wider ground war. The closure and reopening of the Strait has changed the rules of the “great game” in energy security, putting the United States back at the center of global energy markets. Investors should expect critics to pan the agreement as insufficiently decisive, but they should ignore the pedantry: the rules of the game have changed and the forces for complete victory have been set in motion. Nelson’s victory at Trafalgar did not end every battle, but it closed off Napoleon’s best route to victory and set the course of the war. The end of the Cold War did not abolish conflict, but it delivered a peace dividend that reshaped economies. Trump’s deal with Iran stands in that line, a decisive strategic win with far-reaching economic and market consequences. The critics were not satisfied when Maduro fell, and they will not be satisfied now, but history will be, and capital will be too, because a peace dividend akin to the one that followed the end of the Cold War will not be ignored.

President Trump posting: "Last month, I directed our Great U.S. Military to execute a secret mission to support Oil Tankers and other Commercial Ships through the Straight of Hormuz. Today, I am pleased to announce that this effort has resulted in more than 100 MILLION Barrels of Oil making its way through the Straight, and into the Open Market. More than 200 Commercial Ships have safely traveled through the Strait." A few takes based on my reporting 1. That number is going to be higher than some other estimates you see ... but also keep in mind 2. It's hard to know exactly how many ships have gone through Hormuz as some turn off transponder, some are 'secretly' escorted out (as Prez says here), some pay the Iran toll but don't want anyone to know etc. 3. Oil tankers come in all shapes and sizes. A VLCC (supertanker) carries ~2m barrels. Some smaller tankers carry much less. So 200 ships w/100m barrels implies many of the ships may be smaller, more regional tankers (say, Bahrain to India or somesuch) vs. a massive tanker that would go from Iraq to California. Either way this flows with the on-record comments I got yesterday from the Energy Secretary here in D.C. Also .. as we've shown you the last few weeks, ships are moving around in the Gulf and loading oil.

A robot just pulled two American pilots out of the sea near the Strait of Hormuz. It was the first time an autonomous sea drone has rescued people in a combat zone, and the war it happened in escalated within hours. The confirmed part is genuinely remarkable. After a US Army Apache went down off Oman, the two crew spent about two hours in the water until a 24-foot Saronic Corsair, an unmanned vessel run by the Navy’s Task Force 59, found them and carried them to a helicopter hoist. No human rescue crew exposed, no second aircraft risked. Both pilots are safe. It is a real leap in how the US fights. Then events moved faster than the evidence. Trump announced that Iran shot the helicopter down and that the US must respond. By 5 p.m. ET, CENTCOM was striking Iranian targets and calling it a proportional answer to unjustified Iranian aggression. Iran fired back overnight. No deaths have been reported on either side. But the cause of the crash is not yet established. Washington says Iran shot it down. Tehran denies it, has claimed no responsibility, and points to an accident or a collision in a crowded, contested waterway. The evidence has not been released. That gap is everything, because a deal was nearly done. A 60-day ceasefire extension and the reopening of the strait were days from signing. One disputed incident has now pulled American and Iranian forces back to trading fire over the same water. This is how fragile truces die. Not on a clear decision, but on a murky incident that hardens into certainty before the facts are in.

Brick by brick, we are collapsing the foundations of Russia's war economy. Today, we are presenting our proposals for a 21st sanctions package against Russia. This includes a temporary freeze of the Russian oil price cap and designations of institutions used by Moscow to generate revenues and circumvent EU sanctions. It will target banks, weapons manufacturers, oil traders, refineries, and crypto operators in third countries.
