Repurpose the Legacy Patullo Bridge as a linear park for pedestrians and cyclists to use , potted plants & trees, park benches , lighting .... It still has a lot of life left in it for this new purpose since it will not be used for vehicular traffic - It should be setup as a linear provincial Park- a great boost to local tourism -as a destination to visit and enjoy the views of the Fraser River and landscape.... New - Surrey mayor is calling on the minister of public safety to appoint a national extortion commissioner to tackle extortion crisis, saying the role should examine gaps in Canada’s criminal, immigration, and citizenship systems. #cdnpoli ‘Our laws are simply too weak. Canadian law-enforcement tools are not enough to protect the public from the scale of extortion & violence we’re experiencing,’ the mayor says.

The extortion crisis is unlike anything Surrey has faced before. Residents and business owners are living in constant fear. Police are working hard, but we need a coordinated, nationwide approach that prevents these crimes and protects Canadians. Today, we officially opened the Cloverdale Sport & Ice Complex! It's an amazing addition to our City and I'm proud of our team for bringing this project back after the previous admin shelved it. Cloverdale has long deserved this facility. South Surrey... Stay tuned!

@RVanstaver68166 Incorrect. We expanded the scope to improve it. The $310.6M fully funded 190k sq. ft. Newton Comm Ctr will now include Olympic sized pool, 45k sq fr library, 2 large gyms, fitness centre,  mat-room, multi-purpose rooms, child-care, and arts spaces. We break ground early 2026.

In 2022, 29% of Surrey residents were within a freq. transit area. Today, we're up to approx 50%! We've installed approx 30 new bus shelters, with 30 more coming this year! We're working hard to make sure that transit options are accessible and available to Surrey residents!

@HarryBainsSC Yes, we participated in that. Let’s talk about Downtown Newton specifically. For example- the sad state of the wave pool exterior. The west side is just a mess- has been for a long time. Stains on walls etc. Can’t imagine South Surrey or Cloverdale being disrespected this way

@ReNewtonNation We recently engaged Newton residents and businesses through Focus Newton Task Force - this helped guide our policies and capital budget. Approved cap plan includes - Newton Comm. Ctr, Unwin Park masterplan and many road imps. We also continue to push for rapid transit up KGB.

@HarryBainsSC If you go back to 2014, Downtown Newton was promised ‘BrandSpanking Newton’ Yet, the $$$ always go elsewhere first. Downtown Newton is a little gem that deserves some love.

Tonight council approved awarding a contract to build the third sheet of ice at the Cloverdale Ice Complex! This is a much needed addition that will help alleviate the pressure we see on our ice facilities throughout our City.

I was thrilled to speak on behalf of Mayor Locke and welcome @PGATOURAmericas to the City of Surrey! The Fortinet Cup Championship is an amazing event being held at Morgan Creek Golf Course this week. Events like this show that Surrey is becoming a sport tourism destination!
