If ETH were $8k, no one would complain. Maybe. But if it’s not, there’s a reason—and it’s simple: there aren’t enough reasons to buy ETH right now. I don’t like to blame the EF for this; it’s more of an ecosystem problem and the direction the industry is heading. Most of us already hold ETH. We’re not buying more because there’s no strong, natural demand. During the ICO boom, we needed ETH to ape into projects. During DeFi Summer, we needed ETH to farm, ape, and earn yield. Now? There’s no clear, natural use case driving demand. The AI agent narrative isn’t enough. So far, it feels like meme coins with a new coat of paint. The solution? Double down on DeFi. DeFi creates natural demand for financial products and appeals to everyone: speculators, gigabrains, institutions, and even normies—each with their own needs. I’ve met many friends who feel disillusioned with the current state of the industry. It’s hard to have a sustainable thesis backed by fundamentals. We need a stronger DeFi to bring life back into crypto. And beyond that—building a better financial system and taking over banks is one of the strongest drivers for builders. It’s the most inspiring north star we have. Let’s build that.
