After long discussions last night between the Governor, Speaker, and me on THC, and continued hours of discussion today, we were not able to come to a resolution. I appreciate the effort by Gov. @GregAbbott_TX to find a solution. I thank Speaker Dustin @Burrows4TX and Republican House members for joining the Senate in passing a complete THC ban during the regular session. My position remains unchanged; the Senate and I are for a total THC ban.
After passing our remaining bills on the July 4th flooding, the Senate will adjourn Sine Die this evening. #txlege
@LtGovTX Imagine how disrespectful and irresponsible you have to be to literally ignore 60,000 veterans in consensus telling you that it is not dangerous but actually literally saves lives all cleaning that you represent the state they fought to protect for you. Look it up once you psycho
@LtGovTX Imagine how stupid you have to be to literally ignore the majority of the people in the state you were elected to represent. Because you're already far beyond ignoring the fact that THC is not the problem with every state you don't like. No data proves any of your claims. Shut up
The Texas Senate and I have been working with the House to ban THC in Texas. Since May, the Texas Senate has taken bold action to protect our communities. Texas will not become California or Colorado; regulation is legalization. We must ban all THC products. CBD and CBG will continue to be legal. Texans expect action—and the Senate will continue delivering until SB 6 becomes law. #txlege
@LtGovTX@GregAbbott_TX@Burrows4TX That's because you're an idiot who literally tells known falsehoods about THC. MOST of the things you have said about THC are known to be false. You are embarrassingly hyperbolic and rude. You aren't even listening to the people you're supposed to represent. Just resign.
@GregAbbott_TX Everyone I know that still regularly uses cannabis since highschool is brain damaged.
Don't legalize it. It did help one person I know get through aggressive chemo therapy very well. What is blocking it from being medicinal globally?
To be clear, the Arkansas law differs from S.B. 3 in legally consequential ways. Unlike the Texas bill, Arkansas’ law did not ban “any amount” of a cannabinoid, it expressly permitted hemp farming consistent with federal law, and it carved out interstate transportation. Those are three legal concerns I raised about S.B. 3 that do not exist in the Arkansas law. Even though the Arkansas law was not plagued with the same legal defects as the Texas bill, it still was unenforced for two years and will be further tied up in court for years to come. I vetoed the Texas bill because we do not have time for a protracted legal fight - we must act now to keep Texas children safe. That process begins next month.
@iistormyii@GregAbbott_TX Technically, cannabis doesn't even fit the definition of a schedule 1 drug anyway. It has real medical uses that real medical professionals have acknowledged publicly. It is literally not even illegal according to a direct reading of the law. People like Dan Patrick are blind.
“Keep Children Safe” and you’re focusing on cannabis and hemp products?!?!?! WTF is wrong with you idiots? Alcohol, Opiates… what exactly are your priorities? If you are worried about the safety of the youth then address alcohol, methamphetamines, opiates, synthetic opiates and fentanyl! THC should never have been classified a schedule-1 narcotic and everyone has known that in this country since 1970!!! It is unconstitutional and requires immediate rescheduling! Don’t tout child safety and not address any of the actual existential threats they actually face. I am a retired and 100% disabled USAF veteran. Cannabis saved my life and is far safer than any of the poison you idiots are financially invested in with big pharma and the alcohol industry.
@Agonzo1@GregAbbott_TX The term "marijuana" is not what the plant is called. It is a slur that refers to someone who abuses cannabis in a very specific way due to a very specific set of circumstances that they don't even control. You are wrong. You need to educate yourself. Don't be a GOPtard.
@robbaragonleon@GregAbbott_TX There is literally proof that the opposite is true, and if you had had any initiative to do any of the research you should have, you would know that already.
@stred4life@GregAbbott_TX Good thing you don't have the right to unilatetally decide what other people's rights are here in the United States of America. Learn how to be a decent citizen and a decent influence on other people and stop trying to tell other people what rights you think they should have.
@LukeNiforatos@GregAbbott_TX There is no way you can slice this that will make him wrong and if you don't have the courage to admit that, you have no place even purporting or thinking that you can represent other Texans.
Throughout the legislative session, @GregAbbott_TX remained totally silent on Senate Bill 3, the bill that would have banned dangerous THC products in Texas. His late-night veto, on an issue supported by 105 of 108 Republicans in the legislature, strongly backed by law enforcement, many in the medical and education communities, and the families who have seen their loved ones’ lives destroyed by these very dangerous drugs, leaves them feeling abandoned. I feel especially bad for those who testified and poured their hearts out on their tragic losses. I will have much more to say at a press conference tomorrow in Austin.

I disagree with the premise that THC itself is somehow destroying families, that is ridiculous. This is not alcohol we are talking about. However the Hemp
industry is just a disguise for unregulated, untested cannabis, usually product that has failed pesticides and mold in other states and then is illegally shipped to Texas under the guise of hemp. So hemp derived THC really just means cannabis products are are unsafe. Just regulate THC properly and let adults make their decisions with proper information. Freedom and liberty of choice over communist control of cannabis.
@LtGovTX@GregAbbott_TX This is one of Soros' Open Societies goals. Their mission statement is to destabilize states through open borders, decriminalization of drugs, and population control. You'll get mass immigration (probably Muslim), and easy abortion access next. No one turns down Soros money!
@amerasell@LtGovTX@GregAbbott_TX Imagine: people focusing on the value of a known natural medicine, because it literally routinely saves lives, instead of policy on things that don't have quite as much importance in the moment as that. You are making a fool of yourself.
@LtGovTX@GregAbbott_TX Imagine if all of you who got this fired up over THC got as fired up over ending property taxes, ending corruption in our government & voted in your local city & school elections. Imagine what kind of state we would have. Imagine what kind of state we could have if you did
