@lmower3 I remember the state’s first appropriation of $10 million in 22/23 budget. I also remember then asking the House & Senate budget chiefs what that number could balloon to in the coming years. Long story short — raising an army ain’t cheap.

@OGFC3 @kristymcampbell Yes, cool building, though a limited roof. That said - the real impressive thing is the work within the building. Lots of juggling and spinning plates and moving pieces. Somehow someway, it all works.

@JeremyRedfernFL God bless her, Jeremy. Teaching is the Lord’s work. It’s a labor of love, as you know, and it takes a special heart to do it well at such a sacrifice.

@JasonDelgadoX My wife is a teacher, Jason. So, try something other than an appeal to emotion or whatever it is you’re doing. There is obviously value in having the AG of the third largest state as a professor and advisor to said state’s flagship university.

Two hours a week. About $100K a year. That’s up to roughly $1,600 an hour in state dollars for Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier’s teaching gig at University of Florida — assuming a ~30-week academic year.
Garrett Shanley@garrettshanley

Exclusive: Fla. Attorney General James Uthmeier earns $100k salary as a part-time professor at @UF’s law school for just two hours of instruction per week. The teaching gig pushes his total state paycheck to $240k — nearly $100k more than @GovRonDeSantis’ salary. miamiherald.com/news/politics-…

I’n no genius, Jeremy. Far from it. But, I am the son of a lower school teacher. The hours and demands of teaching, even at that humble little level, aren’t lost on me. Saw it first hand. No one said professors/teachers only work during class hours. I’ve watched my family, at our humble little level, spend extra time/money on the classroom. The question is whether the total workload justifies $100K for two hours a week. ‘They also grade and prep’ isn’t an argument — it’s the baseline for the job. But apparently, at least according to the article, everyone else is fulfilling those exact responsibilities at UF at a lower level of compensation. The big difference: apparently - according to the article - the AG is earning eight times higher than what the median law school adjunct earns.

@JasonDelgadoX Because professors only spend the two hours of class doing work for said class, right? Not like he spends his other nights that he’s not teaching doing things like grading papers, having office hours for students, mentoring, preparing lessons, etc. Genius-level analysis here.
