The absolute best case report for Spencer Strider: no ligament damage

Strider’s MRI didn’t show any ligament damage, just inflammation. There aren’t any current concerns about him needing surgery. Today’s visit with Dr. Meister (performed surgery in 2024) will just provide an indication of what the next steps will be. Meister will provide a timetable for recovery. By tomorrow, we’ll have an idea of when Strider could begin throwing again.

Weird - a lot of the converstaion on this was that Hurston was going to get multiple rehab starts before activation
Wonder why they went ahead and activated him, just to send him down. Why not leave him on rehab and have the ability to preserve the option?

The #Braves today returned RHP Hurston Waldrep from his rehabilitation assignment, reinstated him from the injured list and optioned him to Triple-A Gwinnett. Atlanta also released C Maverick Handley from the roster and outrighted RHP Carlos Carrasco to the Stripers. RHP Jhancarlos Lara was claimed off waivers by the Washington Nationals.

@CrosbyBaseball This is the right move on multiple levels. I love Grant and he's a serviceable #5 starter on MOST teams. The Braves just aren't most teams and Ritchie is just better right now. I'm also excited to see what Karinchak can do.

JR Ritchie IS coming up today, so I'm guessing we'll hear from Walt Weiss this afternoon that he's starting the series finale on Thursday and then Martín Pérez would bump to the Mets opener on Friday

Possible discussion point here: Is it possible that Cookie Carrasco gets DFA'd again this morning? I'd be curious to see if the Braves would be willing to try and JR Ritchie experiment again, & moving Holmes to the pen, instead of bringing up a true reliever
