@zck Being remote, I think it helps to over communicate, set up regular touchbases with skip levels, leaders, and direct and indirect coworkers, take on stretch projects, proactively send updates, find mentors or virtual coffee chats, and keep developing new skills.

Remote is great if you're mid-career or focusing on lifestyle instead of work. But if you're 22, fresh out of school, and hungry — you'll take a big career hit starting remote.

@zck I had a few remote roles before graduating college. Working remote allowed me to work for companies outside my city and broaden my experience. In my first job out of college, I went permanently remote, was promoted, and progressed to a new remote role at another co.
