Lionel Messi had the more small-c conservative background: a stable, Catholic, two-parent upbringing. Yet he is preferred by left-wingers. Cristiano Ronaldo grew up in much poorer and more precarious circumstances. Yet he is preferred by right-wingers.
Roger Tugas Vilardell 📊@rogertugas

@Alonso_GD Who is telling high achieving girls all they should do is cook and raise kids anymore ? In western professional circles, it is far more common now for the men to be much more into cooking and the idea of kids

Essentially, boys are behind girls in anything that needs even the slightest bit of emotional awareness… We emotionally stunt boys at an industrial scale And then we tell those high achieving girls that all they should do is cook and raise kids. Our society sucks so much
OECD Education@OECDEduSkills

According to PISA, boys significantly underperform girls in all types of creative tasks. Why? On #InternationalWomensDay, read more about the findings on gender in education in the latest PISA survey: bit.ly/45dxRvv #IWD26 #OECDGender

@Noahpinion @MultiPolarMacro It's still true in polygynous societies (Africa/Islam). In modern Western societies women are probably not "twice" as likely to produce offspring, but the ratio might be 1.5. Definitely more than one.

@Noahpinion The natural state of affairs is a bunch of men who can’t get women and a smaller number of men who get a lot. We institutionalized monogamy for a bit and eradicated that. And have now returned to the natural state of things Be happy you’re rich and famous

The political divide is reflected even in birth rates. Fifteen years ago, liberal and conservative women between the ages of 18 and 35 were having children at roughly the same rate. Since then, a significant gap has emerged. As of 2024, about 75 percent of liberal women in this age group are childless, compared with roughly 40 percent of conservative women. In other words, childlessness among liberal women is now nearly twice as high as it is among their conservative counterparts—a striking divergence from the pattern that prevailed just a decade and a half ago.

🇪🇺 "We must dare to consider the issue of qualified majorities, which would imply a gradual expansion of the powers of the qualified majority in the area of common foreign and security policy." — Head of European Diplomacy, Kaja Kallas on abolishing the right of veto within the EU 🇷🇺🇭🇺🇸🇰In fact, this is exactly how they managed to ban Russian gas supplies, bypassing the veto of Hungary & Slovakia

🇪🇺 "We were naive for years about technological dependence because we didn't feel that it's a dependency. We were naive in trusting. Take chemicals. Over 50% of chemicals come from China. Over 90% of batteries and critical raw materials come from one supplier." — EU's Kaja Kallas is dissapointed with international cooperation

As of now, Europe gets about ~ 50% of its gas from the US, about the same as it did from Russia in 2022 (added benefit: it costs a lot more). So much for "we have to make sure that we will have no dependencies on other countries outside Europe".
Clash Report@clashreport

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen: I think, or I hope, that all Europeans can now see that it was a huge mistake to be dependent on Russian fossil fuels. We should never have been. And now we have to make sure that we will have no dependencies on other countries outside Europe, not only in energy but in everything.

Hungary will take legal action before the Court of Justice of the EU as soon as the decision on REPowerEU is officially published. We will use every legal means to have it annulled. The REPowerEU plan is based on a legal trick, presenting a sanctions measure as a trade policy decision in order to avoid unanimity. This goes completely against the EU’s own rules. The Treaties are clear: decisions on the energy mix are a national competence. Banning Hungary from buying oil and gas from Russia goes against our national interest and would significantly increase energy costs for Hungarian families.

What is it about Minneapolis that the two tragic ICE shootings took place there within two or so weeks of each other? Could it really be a coincidence? It is almost as if the governor of Minnesota called for protestors to intervene in ICE enforcements in an incendiary manner? Inciting the people to rise up against law enforcement is guaranteed to end badly, and now we have seen the tragic consequences. @GovTimWalz and those that emulate him, it is time to take the temperature down before more lives are lost.

What not tariff everything in order to have domestic production? This kind of idea is symptomatic of the U.S. no longer believing that it can win. The tide has turned. Enjoy your laggard cars!
