@glasgowcathcart @TriciaMarwick May I suggest as a woman of similar age and who loves music of all gens, was an avid Peelie listener in the 80s and who has a lg collection of vinyl etc. etc. you need to tune into BBC 6-Music. I’d start with Radcliffe & Maconie. There’s still some cracking new music out there!!

@Alrisha6 @Tammiel1973 @ianmiles In fact you can’t. A PhD is research degree and is considered as new material that is a ‘contribution to knowledge.’ It is an in individual led research project that is examined by peers at a high level. Bad wording on the reporting.

Australia has lost the plot. For the breakdancing competition at the Olympics they put this woman with a PhD in breakdancing up as a competitor. She admits that she barely ever trains and complains that she doesn’t fit into the hierarchy of merit, which she considers to be a form of settler colonialism and patriarchy.

Numerous reports of a misinformation movement that glasses, sunglasses are harmful. Anti-glasses quackery has been around for over a century, so nothing new, but the potential harm to children, road users & the visually impaired still profound. Let’s stop this now! 👓 👀

The most dangerous grift in ophthalmology right now is “glasses are harmful.” People that claim diet, exercise, and a 10 part instructional webinar can help you live spectacle free! No. Stop it. It’s not a big deal for most adults. They will lose some money before realizing that no amount of exercise and bull testicle consumption will fix their presbyopia. But those same adults have kids. If young kids don’t get the glasses they need, their brains won’t develop normal vision. I’m talking permanent vision loss. I have seen it happen. It’s awful and entirely preventable.
