The Minister for Indigenous Australians, and the National Indigenous Australians Agency are up at Estimates this morning. I've just asked about the stalled funding for NT remote communities, and have some more questions about federal money for NT cops, and big corporations like the NRL and AFL. Documents I forced the government to release show that an $840m funding package they announced over a year ago for NT remote communities hasn't delivered a single cent to our people. We know our remote communities are suffering and our services are stretched to breaking point. This level of incompetence from the NT and Federal governments is unacceptable. The Minister for Indigenous Australians and the NT Chief Minister owe us an explanation, and I'll be pushing for it in estimates tomorrow! nit.com.au/25-05-2026/244…

While there wasn't much in Labor's budget for our people beyond the status quo, we did achieve some justice for Stolen Generation survivors. Under this change, redress payments for survivors will no longer be included in aged care asset testing. These payments are meant to acknowledge the harm caused by governments. They should never have been clawed back through the aged care system. This is something that our Elders, and organisations like NATSIACC and the Healing Foundation, have been long fighting for. And I have raised this multiple times with the Minister, as well as through budget submissions and by providing costings to the government. There is still much more work to do to ensure our Elders receive proper care and dignity, but this is a step in the right direction. nit.com.au/12-05-2026/242…

Today marks 35 years since the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody handed down its recommendations. These recommendations will help stop deaths of everyone in custody, not only First Peoples. A number of families whose relatives' deaths were investigated during the Royal Commission have been requesting to meet with the Prime Minister to discuss the lack of progress, but his office has so far refused to meet with them. Albanese refuses to show leadership, and refuses to use the powers he has to stop these deaths. He is part of the problem. nit.com.au/15-04-2026/237…

People are expressing outrage about how Ben Roberts-Smith was arrested, saying it was too public. He was arrested with no cuffs, not a hand on him, despite facing allegations of war crimes. I can’t help but think of the young Aboriginal boy wrongly arrested at gunpoint by the AFP on a Canberra bus. A boy who was wrongly identified, profiled because he was Aboriginal, searched even after police realised they had the wrong person. An innocent child, just trying to get home – publicly humiliated, a gun drawn on him. Where was the outrage then? Where has it been for the hundreds of Black and brown people who don’t survive police arrests, who die at their hands? Spare me your tears for Ben Roberts-Smith. If you have a problem with the police, at least be consistent.

Utterly horrific. Two young boys and their parents shot in the head by the IDF in the occupied West Bank on their way home from a Ramadan shopping trip. The soldiers then beat and taunted the two surviving brothers, telling the boys they 'killed dogs'. This is a regime that the Albanese government is backing. Absolute shame on them. We cannot look away from Palestine. theguardian.com/world/2026/mar…

EXCLUSIVE: NT Labor reverses on 'disastrous' Binybara/Lee Point project, now opposing it, says Senator Lidia Thorpe. Calls grow to abandon the federal project. nit.com.au/10-03-2026/230…

The opposition to the destruction of Binybara Lee Point has grown to the point that even Territory Labor is calling for a halt to this disastrous project. The Albanese government has so far refused to listen to Traditional Owners who have not consented to this destruction of their Country. Now we’ll see if Albanese is willing to listen to his own colleagues in the Northern Territory, who have just campaigned against the federal-led project in the Nightcliff by-election. And I look forward to seeing NT Labor and the Minister for Indigenous Australians protesting with the people against this. nit.com.au/10-03-2026/230…

Senator Hanson can distract with culture wars and call me a bitch as much as she wants - her record tells the real story of what she's about. She claims to stand up for working people, but today we've found out she billed taxpayers thousands of dollars for flights and chauffeurs to attend One Nation fundraisers. She has previously failed to declare gifts from billionaire Gina Rinehart, failed to properly disclose business interests and shareholdings, and her daughter has been installed into a plum $180k taxpayer-funded role in a One Nation office. Over recent years, One Nation has been forced to repay over $200k in wrongly claimed election spending. It's not clear how much personal wealth Hanson has, but she recently loaned $245k to her own party and refuses to say where the money came from. Pauline Hanson is not challenging the elites, she’s one of them. She’s using her position to protect her own interests and back her billionaire mates. While she distracts with division, the battlers and people she says she stands for are being left behind.

It is completely disingenuous for the Minister for Indigenous Australians to claim she stands with our people against David Connolly. Her own government signed off on his appointment and holds the power to remove him, but refuses to. nit.com.au/27-02-2026/229…

This morning, as mob and allies gathered in Darwin to protest the appointment of NT Administrator David Connolly, NT Police arrested and manhandled respected Larrakia Elder Eric Fejo on his own Country. Eric is a staunch defender of his Country and his people. It is utterly shameful that police would treat an Elder this way on Larrakia land. NT Police must publicly apologise. The Minister for Aboriginal Australians, Malarndirri McCarthy, was there. She denounced the new Administrator. But it is completely disingenuous to claim she stands with our people against David Connolly when her own government signed off on his appointment and holds the power to remove him. That power exists but they refuse to use it. By failing to act, they are part of the problem. Their inaction sends a clear message that they still endorse this man, no matter what the Minister may say at a microphone. She’s protesting something she can change. It’s the same refusal we see when it comes to using federal powers to stop the NT Government from targeting and locking up our children. Malarndirri, now that you’ve found your activist voice, I guess I'll see you at the next deaths in custody rally? And I’ll expect to see you fighting just as hard to get 10-year-old children out of prison.

The Albanese Government refused to expand the terms of reference for the Antisemitism Royal Commission to examine racism against First Peoples and other communities. Instead, they claimed vague “social cohesion” wording would cover everything. Now the Commissioner has made it clear the inquiry will not examine racism against First Peoples or other communities. The Government can no longer use this Royal Commission to deflect responsibility for tackling racism. Racism against First Peoples and Black and brown communities is rising. The Government must take direct, serious action. They can start by implementing the National Anti-Racism Strategy, which has sat untouched for over a year. It’s time to show our lives matter too. nit.com.au/24-02-2026/228…

Funny how Senator Thorpe has access to alleged threatening “letters” sent to Lakemba Mosque,..but the general public don’t. I didn’t know Lydia was a Detective? odd that an Australian Senator has such close ties with Islamic groups, and is privy to such sensitive “evidence” in an ongoing criminal investigation. Unless of course it’s all BS and propaganda being manufactured by Islamists and their high profile supporters 🤔
Senator Lidia Thorpe@SenatorThorpe

This week, when I saw the letters sent to Lakemba Mosque, I immediately knew that it was the same perpetrator. The same distinct handwriting, language and misspellings, and the same stamps made using a bullet dipped in ink.
