@AntiwarNews Who benefits? Good question. Who benefits from an end to the war? The Iranian state. Why do libertarians want to benefit the Iranian state?

Be careful. Operations to destabilize the antiwar effort are always ongoing. The libertarian camp is particularly vulnerable. Ask who benefits. Protect your friends. Fascists will destroy everything you love & demand you thank them. Be back soon. - Angela from Antiwar

Nearly a year ago, I sat down for a long-form interview with John Stossel about the emergence of the Woke Right. At the time, almost nobody got it. This week, I've received dozens of texts from people who just saw the interview and found it clarifying.

@Jessethefree Would you have said the War for Independence is an endless war and you oppose it had you been alive in 1776?

If you oppose endless wars, are kind to others, believe self-defense is a fundamental right, believe in private property rights, and want to be left alone, you’re my kind of people.

@noam_dworman There are plenty of credible arguments against this war, but I find it really strange how so many of the anti-war types seem to predicate their arguments on the idea that it is morally wrong to attack Iran's government somehow.

Many of the anti-war arguments are strong and logical. I just wish they'd start with - "I believe we can accept a nuclear Iran," or "I think we must prevent a nuclear Iran." Don't wimp out on the heart of the matter. Because if we can't stop them now, we ain't never gonna.

@brucefenton This just isn't true. Welfare/entitlements are way bigger financial drains than military spending. Enforcing immigration laws has eroded Americans civil liberties at home far more than war has.

I don’t like big government and I don’t like destruction of the Bill of Rights. All told, there is NOTHING more destructive to our budget and freedoms than war. Nothing. Not ever dumb leftist program combined holds a candle to the waste, stupidity and destruction of freedom that war does. Nothing.

"Libertarians" are angry at this Mises piece for acknowledging the evil of foreign anti-Western regimes. Here is Daniel McAdams explaining "The Rockwell Rule" to never attack foreign powers if it's a regime opposed by the CIA. They just hate America and the West. The CIA overthrowing communist and communist-aligned countries is based.

The people of Iran suffer not only from authoritarian rule, but they also are victims of an economy in which their rulers engage in central economic planning that is destroying the economy. It’s an economy based upon plunder, not production. | Hamoon Soleimani mises.org/mises-wire/ira…

For Civil War people: If you haven't read Henry Kyd Douglas's "I Rode with Stonewall," do so. He was with Jackson from Jackson's initial posting at Harpers Ferry through the Valley Campaign, Antietam, and Chancellorsville, almost all of that time on Jackson's personal staff. Wounded and captured at Gettysburg, he was exchanged and ended the war leading the last unit to stack its arms at Appomattox. It's anecdotal, with lots of personal accounts both of Jackson and day-to-day life in the Confederate army. Douglas himself was a sort of a David Niven type--charmingly self-deprecating, good humored, often funny, and a gifted story-teller. In my experience, it's unique among Civil War memoirs.

The backstory here is that the Squamish people of what is now Vancouver were illegally dispossessed of this land a century ago. They sued, got their land back, and used their sovereignty to ignore local zoning rules and build 6,000 new homes over the objections of nearby NIMBYs.

@justinamash So, about what we spend on Social Security in 51 days. Let's make commensurate cuts to Social Security spending to pay for the war and when the war is over: the "temporary" cuts become permanent.

@AndrewBrunelle @AncapAir @FoxNews If we're gonna talk about "in general" then explain to me why Iran's government murdering protesters is not something I should care about when it actually happens, but the US govt. conscripting people is something I should care about even when it doesn't happen.

@AndrewBrunelle @AncapAir @FoxNews You say it happens "all the time" but conscription hasn't happened in the US for more than 50 years. Something which has not happened in 50 years and does not appear likely to happen again any time soon is not, in fact, something that "happens all the time."

How dare you assume what Ancap Air loves or doesn't love? He's just saying that under current laws and Trump has talked about a draft, hasn't he? Of course nobody should have to fight a war against their will, but in this fucked up world it happens ALL THE TIME. And these "volunteers" are usually tricked into the military by high school recruiters.
