The release of the COVID response inquiry is a distraction and a Royal Commission must be established. This 'whitewash' inquiry was run by three bureaucrats handpicked by the Prime Minister. Some of those panellists vocally supported the harshest lockdowns in the world. The inquiry was stopped from looking at the actions of State Premiers, who turned themselves into border dictators. The inquiry had no investigative powers to compel witnesses, documents or other evidence. The inquiry says we didn't get COVID vaccines quick enough, yet says nothing about the fact that Australia was lied to and told they would stop transmission when they clearly didn't, and actually injured far more Australians than we were told. This inquiry laments that Australians don't trust their government. The public never will until the key decision makers are held accountable and prosecuted for their malfeasance. The first step to doing that is establishing a Royal Commission with the teeth to uncover the truth. We don't need another report telling Australians what they already know. We need a Royal Commission that can uncover the evidence to support prosecutions.
