Update on fallen tree at the Parish Church. We’re working with specialists to resolve this asap. The Council are aware. Obvs a problem of this scale and in this location will not be remedied overnight. Thanks all for your concern & patience. Canon J @SpondonOnline

@Rgt71Robert The unreasonable constraints of clericalism are not restricted to Rome. Some of the coments here are simply in-humane. The points @Rgt71Robert makes here are valid …the hypocrisy of the way the church views sexuality and identity of those called to priesthood is abhorrent.

@WalkerMarcus Years ago I was an advisor for C 4 films, a shoot included a weekday mass in a Church: the priest wore a silver chasuble (wtf?) with stole outside, consecrating enough wine for a papal mass 🤦where to begin? They had no idea & they didn’t care.

Whoever the BBC has hired as the costume designer really should be exploring a new vocation. It’s bad enough that he or she couldn’t be bothered to look up what priests wore in the 11th century. That they don’t even know the stole goes underneath the vestments is sheer laziness.

This is the second time I’ve seen Emily Thornberry get angry at Israel.
Both times were over Israel’s treatment of British Parliamentarians.
She’s never shown this anger about Israel slaughtering Palestinians and committing every war crime under the sun.

@BishopJohnInge I think the piece is naive. As a member of Gen Syn I’d suggest investigative journalism is essential in our current culture. And given recent experience, I’m more worried about the CEEC controlling who the next archbishop will be rather than Channel 4.

The rejection of a donation to the Children’s Society from the Archbishop of Canterbury shows the extent of the moral crisis now facing the leadership of the Church of England. This is totally unprecedented. I still don’t think our leadership understands how toxic it has become.
