@packyM The strategy of scoring goals does seem to be panning out for the US. I’m surprised more teams don’t try this. If you look at the game historically the team that scores more win the game. England should try it.

@XqiuzX If the landlord owned only one property would that help you afford rent?

Nobody talks about how landlords can own 47 properties as "investments" but when working people can't afford rent we get lectures about budgeting and making coffee at home.

Of course, you benefit from this! Indirectly, since you include the break in the broadcaster's rights fee calculation and sell the broadcaster the opportunity to generate more revenue by adding this break. But this is even beyond money; it’s about the game and has totally impacted the game for the worse. Selling the soul of the game.
FIFA Media@fifamedia

For the first time at a FIFA World Cup™, hydration breaks have been introduced at all matches. The breaks take place in the 22nd and 67th minutes and last three minutes, which are added on to the stoppage time at the end of each half. FIFA President Gianni Infantino explained today: “The main reason is the heat, but we also have to understand that in a competition like the (FIFA) World Cup, played over 39 days, with teams potentially playing eight matches in those 39 days, having a moment to rest is extremely important. “What matters even more to us is ensuring that all teams, in every match, are playing under the same conditions. And it’s very difficult to accept that a coach might have the opportunity to influence a match by making adjustments simply because it’s hotter, while in another match, where the temperature is slightly lower, the same coach doesn’t have the same opportunity. We want to ensure equal conditions for everyone, and that’s why these breaks are implemented in every match.” Mr Infantino said that FIFA gains “absolutely nothing” from the breaks. “There is no additional revenue for FIFA, as all commercial agreements were signed well in advance. So, this is not a financial issue for us. For us, it is purely a sporting matter.” Read more here ➡️ inside.fifa.com/organisation/p…

This is complete and utter nonsense. Just had a 2-3 minute delay for an injury and then 2 minutes later we have a hydration break in a stadium where it’s raining and it’s not even hot. I’m sorry this is ruining what could be the most fantastic World Cup turning it into 4 Quarters

@ckieser13 With Modern technology there is no reason not to have a time keeper and have everyone know the time. The Ref can communicate when to stop the clock and restart. It leaves it up to corruption

@seanmdav Nah. The problem is letting in teams like Ghana that are ranked 65 in the world and play a dirty, ugly game in hopes that they won't lose. Only the top ranked teams should be allowed in. They want regionals to decide so they can let in all these 3rd World countries.

A game that takes two hours and ends 0-0 is not a sport. It’s an activity, like exercise. Soccer is just group exercise with a prop.

The world cup. Boston. It's 19 degrees and raining. Perfect footballing weather. Why do they need a hydration break? Bloody American adverts.

@ThrillaRilla369 Have you ever grilled one?!?! You just put the peanut butter and jelly on like normal and then butter the outside and fry it up like a grilled cheese. You won’t be disappointed. One of the most delicious things on the planet.

@martynware You are upset about the coaching? So bizarre. I get the breaks are new, and change is scary. But is it really that big a deal? Oh and there is money to be made so those quarters are coming. Wait and see!

Re the drinks breaks… The point is A the duration is too long B it shouldn’t be every game C the game should be restarted ASAP D coaching ‘reset’ should not be allowed (players could go to a drinks station away from coaches) E no ads

My two sons really want to go to the movies and we have vouchers to do so, so I looked into it. Toy Story 5! No. That’s for girls. Masters of the Universe! No. That’s for people old enough for crude sex jokes. Scary Movie! No. Backrooms! No. Devil Wears Prada! No… There is nothing for boys anymore.
