@_Useless_Tree_ @JohnnyH5643 @scotthortonshow Yes, we should believe people when they tell us their motivations, as we don’t have the ability to read their minds. The fact that their stated motivations are irrational doesn’t change that, because people are often irrational.

Some kook is attacking me from behind a block about my take on the Pulse Nightclub massacre. Here’s what I wrote about it in my book Enough Already: Omar Mateen, the American-born perpetrator of the horrific Orlando Pulse nightclub massacre of June 2016, explicitly told witnesses he was taking revenge for the continuing U.S. war in Afghanistan, the country of his family’s origin. “When I saw his picture on the news, I thought, of course, he did that,” a co-worker of Mateen told Newsday. “He had bad things to say about everybody—blacks, Jews, gays, a lot of politicians, our soldiers. He had a lot of hate in him. He told me America destroyed Afghanistan.”  A young woman named Patience Carter, who was shot in the leg by Mateen and held hostage in the bathroom of the club for three hours with the gunman, said, “The motive was very clear to us who are laying in our own blood and other people’s blood, who are injured, who were shot. Everybody who was in that bathroom who survived could hear him talking to 911, saying the reason why he’s doing this is because he wanted America to stop bombing his country.” In the middle of committing his atrocity—Mateen slaughtered 49 people and wounded 53—he stopped to post on his Facebook page: “You kill innocent women and children by doing us  airstrikes . . . now taste the Islamic state vengeance.” [errors in original] The transcript of his call to 911, released much later after all the attention died down, is more explicit. As Mateen declared his loyalty to the leaders of ISIS, he explained his demands: “[Y]ou have to tell America to stop bombing Syria and Iraq. They are killing a lot of innocent people. What am I to do here when my people are getting killed over there? You get what I’m saying? . . . You need to stop the U.S. airstrikes. They need to stop the U.S. airstrikes, okay? . . .  You have to tell the U.S. government to stop bombing. They are killing too many children, they are killing too many women, okay? . . . I feel the pain of the people getting killed in Syria and Iraq and all over the Muslim [world]. A lot of innocent women and children are getting killed in Syria and Iraq and Afghanistan, okay?” As it turns out, the government lied like the Devil that Mateen was a repressed, closeted homosexual struggling under the tyranny of his fundamentalist religion, causing him to lash out at this  gay nightclub. His attack had nothing to do with that completely false narrative. Only when the feds attempted to prosecute his wife did the truth come out that Mateen was not gay but had simply picked that nightclub for his massacre from the top of Google’s search results after deciding that Disney World’s security was too tight. Mateen had chosen to sign on with the agendas of al-Nusra and the Islamic State and attacked a crowded nightclub as a strike against the United States on their behalf. (The cowardly Orlando police waited outside for hours as people bled to death inside the nightclub. After the cops finally breached the wall, they  opened fire, killing even more innocent people trying to escape. No one was ever held accountable.) In the meantime, millions of people were led to believe that a bin Ladenite terrorist had just massacred 49 people because of how much Muslims hate gay people, and how much this one hated himself. The reality was that he was angry that Obama had built an Islamic caliphate and then started bombing it. Mateen was avenging the innocent people caught in the middle. It is certainly no excuse for killing innocent people, but that makes Mateen’s atrocity his and Obama’s responsibility, not the religion of Islam or Freudian sexual repression.

@TocanoRR @scotthortonshow Reread my post as many times as you need. Further: I’m not the one who needs to parse Islam. It’s a cult of illiterate backwards barbarians who don’t police themselves. I paint with the same broad strokes they use. Islam as a scourge on the planet.

Dairy Queen in my city used to be a 20-something manager and a bunch of teenagers my entire life. Now it’s a grown ass adult family of Indians. It’s dirty, gross, slow, and you can barely understand them. Why? Why are they here? Why? I want to know why.

I'm not a great expert on Andy Burnham, but he seems to be a pretty stereotypical Labour politician: dull-minded, economically illiterate, etc. Keir Starmer is a soulless machine man who hates Britain with a passion and is doing everything he can to annihilate us.
Keith 🇬🇧@LonsdaleKeith

The simple fact is the only way to stop Burnham is to vote Reform. The Tories and Restore don't have a cat in Hell's chance of winning.

@JosephSheridan @bethpratt That's not it. I've watched this at 2 particular places over the last couple decades and longer. If it were on 1/3 increase, there would not be a problem. I would be more specific about locations, but don't want to exacerbate it.

@_Useless_Tree_ @bethpratt It’s also the fact that in the last four decades we’ve added about 4 billion people to the world, almost doubling population. And in the USA adding over 100 million, raising it by over a third. There’s just way more people using the same space and it’s easier to get around.

Traffic to the Yosemite entrance gate backed up to El Portal Market--that is over three miles. Read reports that parking in Yosemite Valley was full this morning, so when these folks arrive in the Valley, there is nowhere to park. Park leadership is being careless with such a precious place they were entrusted to preserve by allowing this.

@belesstupid @meghan_daum They were outside the VA in the street. A guy with the initials RR bought the tents and started the whole thing. Then they painted a special zone for them. It took away part of the street.

These people who say they rarely if ever see street encampments or sick individuals in depraved conditions when they drive around L.A. What routes are they taking? I'd really like to know. They should build a navigation app so we can go that way, too!

You can see in this passage from 2008, in which Christopher Hitchens heaps scorn on Michelle Obama's undergraduate thesis, ("To describe it as hard to read would be a mistake; the thesis cannot be “read” at all, in the strict sense of the verb. This is because it wasn’t written in any known language") the reason why the Great Awokening was soon to be launched. After a decade of Giuliani-ism and Clintonite triangulation (welfare reform, "superpredators", the Crime Bill), cynical white guys, even those nominally "on the Left" (Hitchens had departed it by 2008, but his prior credentials as a figure on the Left were part of what gave him permission to say these things in mainstream publications) felt free to do things they would soon not feel free to do, like belittle and ridicule and denigrate the intelligence of the first black First Lady.

@belesstupid @meghan_daum There are homeless in Malibu around the lagoon. They go in and out of Whole Foods, stealing at will. There were hundreds of homeless in Brentwood during the lockdowns, tents took up a hole lane of traffic.

@meghan_daum Nearly no homeless in Malibu or Brentwood. I think I read that Malibu pays some fee to Santa Monica to take take their homeless. Also, nearly no places that accept EBT in Malibu and very few in Brentwood.

@JohnnyH5643 @scotthortonshow Holy shit, you're pure bad faith. (Of course, Shapiro was wrong. A lot of people were and are wrong. But we're not talking about them, are we? And you're probably the most wrong of all.)

@_Useless_Tree_ @scotthortonshow No, the ones who attributed absolute definitive causality would be the "Ben Shapiro" camp who told us the day of that it was because he was Muslim and hated gay people and we need more 4th Amendment violations When we have hard evidence the nightclub wasn't even the first Target.

I understand exactly what your point is. You're talking about the killer. My post was and is about Scott. Of course crazy killers have crazy explanations. Scott is the one attributing definitive causality and, beyond that, he is contradicting himself regarding al-Nusra/IS and the role of Islam, Obama, etc.

@_Useless_Tree_ @scotthortonshow Devilish contradictions in the narrow sense of "he killed innocents to avenge Innocents". Not that I was suggesting his motive wasn't clearly what it was. Which is what your reaching for. Be careful not to dislocate your shoulder in doing so.

After my interview with @GeoffEarle of the @nypost, we immediately investigated claims he made that the CIA had repossessed JFK files from ODNI. We checked on the veracity of the reporter’s assertions and determined the story was false. We promptly informed Mr. Earle that his claims were not credible. The NY Post chose to publish the story anyway — apparently it was too good a story to allow facts to get in the way. Now let’s see if they correct their story.

Devilish contradictions... But one thing we know for sure is that if they say they did it because of the Afghanistan war, then we can be absolutely sure they are telling us the truth, and there is NO other reason for their behavior. Devilish contradictions... But Obama is also responsible. Devilish contradictions... Scott contradicted himself. See my quote from his post. He said the killer "signed on" (vague way to put it) with al-Nusra and the IS, but Islam wasn't responsible. Don't let yourself be fooled.

@_Useless_Tree_ @scotthortonshow Yes, insane mad men killers typically have fallacious motives wrought with devilish contradictions. That doesn't actually change what their deranged motives actually are. Scotts post is entirely descriptive, calling balls and strikes, in nature which you seem to be missing.
