The phrase “money can’t buy happiness” is total bullshit. Every working and middle class American knows it. Money solves problems and makes things much easier. You have to be crazy rich to starting getting diminishing returns.

@RachelBitecofer I talk to my sister every day when she drives home. We both talk about our jobs, frustrations and our days. By the time she gets home she is ready to face her kids and their needs.

@offbeatorbit One of my students asked me last week how to get a birth certificate. He’s in his 30’s, in prison and will be deported if he can’t prove he was born here but he has no proof.

@filled_popcorn My aunt got Covid on Christmas Eve of 2020 and died alone a month later. It was awful and so heartbreaking. This is too real.

i haven’t seen an episode of dr who until this christmas one which i watched to support nicola but this was one of the most heartbreaking scenes i have ever seen.

@anylaurie16 The bad part though, is once in prison the youth offenders are often tasked with the “removal” of people from their own gangs because they are seen as getting more lenient treatment from the courts.

@anylaurie16 Good news though. Until he is 25 his brain isn’t fully formed, so if he DOES end up committing a crime he would be considered a “youth offender” and do less time. So he has that going for him.

Today is the last day my son can commit a crime as a minor. From tomorrow on, he will be charged as an adult. THEY GROW UP SO FAST!

@anylaurie16 Last year, at the men’s prison I teach at, a staff member killed his ex gf and himself. I was talking about it with some students and they would not agree that the man was 100% to blame for her death.

these “illegal immigrants” killing women are MEN. If they’d been home, they would’ve killed a woman in their home country. The problem is misogyny, the perpetrators are MEN, “legal” or “illegal.”
