🚨 Today in @Nature, we report GEMINI—a genetically encoded intracellular memory device that writes cellular dynamics into tree-ring-like fluorescent patterns within cytoplasmic protein assemblies.[1/n]

@DrJKhokhar And they want to bring in more people to Canada to fight over a shrinking pie. Canadian science funding is becoming a joke.

2 of the Behavioural Neuroscience review panels (BSA and BSC) were both at 11%. So many of the neuroscientists with grants in these panels (that I have spoken to) are between grants and in real fear of having to close up shop! If we keep funding 4/35 grants, labs will close!

@CIHR_IRSC 11% funding rates will slowly destroy our health research ecosystem. We continue to hire more researchers, and we want to do so, of course, with so many brilliant minds around, yet funding remains the same or decreases.

⚠️TYLENOL & AUTISM—RFK Jr and Trump are wrong—the largest & best study in the world in 2.5 MILLION KIDS—found no increased autism risk with acetaminophen (aka paracetamol, Tylenol) use by the mother during pregnancy. A crude unadjusted analysis found only a preliminary 5% risk, but once you adjust for family by matching using sibling controls (who didn’t get autism), the even tiny 5% risk vaporizes to 0% 📉. (Fun fact: I used to do drug safety epidemiology and have been whistleblower against big pharma when their drugs were dangerous—so I know a few things about drug safety data). Thread 🧵.

The really galling thing about the Acetaminophen thing is that the observations of a potential link between its use in pregnancy and autism WERE taken seriously, and WERE studied using "gold standard science", and found not to be there. The same thing is true of the link to vaccines. The only gaslighting that's happening here is repeatedly pushing disproven theories that will help no one, and harm many. jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/…

Thrilled to share our lab's newest paper 🧠✨ bit.ly/46Rk28s
In this study we used SHIELD brain clearing and lightsheet imaging to compare oxytocin neurons in two KO mouse models of autism-risk genes: CNTNAP2 and FMR1.
So what did we find?🧵
