@GyllKing @jan_murray I believe the choir sings but does not push particular beliefs while doing so I would say the choir is therefore not political. What people do outside the choir is up to them (if it is legal). If a c1s female requires same sex care then that excludes a trans woman with a penis

@jan_murray Why did you claim to be the only gender critical person in the choir and that you don’t know the views of other choir members? Why did you choose a charity with strong pro trans & inclusive policies - values you are diametrically opposed to?

It was this time last week that I first saw the email from Scope - dropping my choir from the London Marathon. I was working on a potential Telegraph story at the time - but had to drop everything to focus on trying to resolve the situation. It’s felt like a full-time job ever since. The public are behind me. But some people who matter more are upset with me. And sadly, I’m not sure those relationships will ever recover. Which is, of course, exactly what they want - disharmony, disagreement and for the blame to fall on me, rather than on the actions of Scope. I don’t blame those people. I know this world. And I remember how scary it was to be thrust into it, with little warning. Having worked in and around journalism for 25+ years, I also understand the role media visibility can play in achieving legal and other resolutions. But I understand that people who don’t work in that field may not see it that way. I also understand that trans activists don’t all wear masks and threaten women at protests. Many work inside organisations, across multiple sectors, embedding authoritarian ideas - such as the belief that saying there are only two sexes is bigotry - while being paid large salaries to do so. Again, I understand that many people may not see this. One person said I would have to rename my choir - that it would never recover from this. I disagree. But that doesn’t mean the perception wasn’t there. Or that the damage wasn’t real. Someone else said I was an “activist” and that singers would not want to be “tarred with the same brush” as me. None of that is true. My views are lawful, reasonable and widely held. But the perception is still there. Along with the damage. The irony is that my choir was never about politics. It was about music, community, and supporting others - and that hasn’t changed. But something that was beautiful has been made ugly. And not by our doing. That’s the real loss in all of this.

@paul1964Jam A superb actor and he released a cover of the Bread song "If", which became a UK number-one single in 1975. I believe this remains to this day the shortest-titled chart-topping single ever

Oh London.. you're a tough one to crack! 😭 Disappointed with my run but proud of slogging it out to the finish after busting my toe open around the half way point!😅🩸 Making the start line wasn't easy (more on that later) so to actually finish is something I can be proud of!

He carried a fridge on his back for the London Marathon, which was a representation of carrying something which over time gets more & more difficult. He ran for Dementia, which has impacted our family & many others. Thank you to him for raising money & awareness. (Theftdbrothers)

These posters are up across the London Underground. They appear to encourage people to question or obstruct officers carrying out the law. Simple question: Should this be allowed — yes or no?

Even after wiping his spit off my face, this guy had to be repeatedly told not to touch me when he grabbed my arm on Saturday in Ipswich. Aggressive little man brought a whole bunch of misogyny to shut women up when talking about same sex intimate care.

Some people have said: “Oh, now you can have a TERF choir.” But I don’t want that. I never wanted that. A community choir should be exactly that - a space where people from all walks of life come together to make music. Not to declare their politics. Not to agree on anything beyond the song in front of them. We had that. And it was a beautiful thing. Scope made it political - not me.

We've all rightly been outraged at the way the disability charity @scope treated @jan_murray's choir by dropping them from performing at Sunday's London Marathon and then (presumably having sought legal advice) reinstated them in *very* bad grace. It's a scandal that cancellations like this for legally-held beliefs are still happening. However, I think many people have forgotten what Scope is supposed to do and what implications this attitude from its leadership has for the (actually) most vulnerable people in society. Scope is a disability charity. Its remit is to campaign and lobby on behalf of disabled people, to provide information, advice and support when they need it and to create opportunities for disabled people. How can disabled people trust Scope to have our interests at heart when it has demonstrated such intolerance for sex realist views? In particular, how can disabled women who need same-sex care trust Scope to advocate on their behalf, provide them with accurate and up to date information and advice on this subject and to support them - and give them a voice - when they need it most? Disabled people - especially women - who need care face extreme risk from those who are supposed to provide it. Disabled women are physically and sexually assaulted by male carers at a sickening rate. Same-sex intimate care for disabled women who require it is an urgent priority. But the major disability charities, including Scope, do not agree. They've been silent on the matter for years. They're silent because they've pulled a Stonewall; they know they'll lose donations if they work in the interests of the people who need them most. And yet they hoover up donations from brilliant, well-meaning people who don't know this. So can everyone who has been so brilliantly vocal in support of Jan's choir please, please also consider contacting Scope to ask them about their policy regarding same-sex intimate care for disabled women? Could you ask them what they do and plan to do to lobby for same-sex care, to support disabled women who need it and to make the voices of those women heard? Thank you so much. @hen10freeman @sharrond62 @jan_murray @WomensRightsNet @BevJacksonAuth @Glinner
