@BY272727 The reason I lean towards not just short sellers is because they're already on every exchange, including TM despite what they claim. There is something unique to SH going on and it really doesn't make sense for a broker to be doing (or for SH to allow repeatedly).

@BY272727 There are semi-sophisticated North Korean scammers operating in crypto, I think it's naive to think similar groups of scammers aren't operating in the ticketing space. StubHub is just incapable of getting ahead of anything though.

Stubhub now one of the world’s largest short sellers.
Brian B@BrianB082636488

@BY272727 @StubHub In fairness the guarantee delivery as long as the price drops. Otherwise they still may consider giving you your money back.

@tommydprimetim1 and instead of fighting for their share on the ancils, artists and promoters have decided to blame the secondary for all their problems (while also secretly using it themselves).

Live nation internal docents Live Nation docs show this Promoters and co-promoters can lose -$3+ per fan Artists can lose on the show But Live Nation still pulls $20+ per fan Fees parking VIP and rebates 30,000 fans = $600,000+ Lose money on the show Make it back on the fan 👇

@tommydprimetim1 So they knew promoters were taking a hit and also knew that they could hide their increased take with the rebates because their AOI remained flat that way. Of course, certain promoters here who struggle with basic economics say this is great for their (former) clients.

Live Nation calls it a rebate scheme in their own documents below 👇 They admit it’s made up and designed to control how money flows. Their words, not mine. That money gets pushed into ticket prices. Fans, are the ones paying for There scheme #LiveNation #LowerTicketPrices #ExposeTheTruth #prisonforrapino 👇👇

@LewisBay3 Unless they bring in an entirely new staff, their venture with direct listings will be a spectacular failure. They can't even support their MLB sales and other deals they have with primaries.

@TheOne_2014 SH has to show revenue growth & profit to juice their stock price. Cost cutting measures have taken a once fairly upstanding company (pre-acquisition by Viagogo) and reduced it to current state.

Stubhub's customer support is so bad, they are basically there to contact sellers to trouble shoot the order and then relay to CS how to resolve. Completely useless, I'm basically paying Stubhub to be their customer support manager. And they STILL find ways to butcher the support

@spencerinvestor @CryptoMikli It's what artists/labels in the music industry have done for a long time...seems to just be an accepted practice at this point. But considering they can sell royalties/sponsorships, I 100% agree with what you're saying too for the streamers (or anybody doing it).

Bob Menery reveals he’s buying viewers to grow faster and get bigger deals “I buy views, absolutely. Why wouldn’t I? I just started streaming, so I buy more viewers to trick my mind into thinking I’m performing in front of a bigger audience” “When the botting timer runs out and the views drop from 3,000 to 9, I’m like, ‘Where did those 3,000 people go? Did I say something wrong?’” “Do I use botting to get bigger deals? Of course. If you’re dumb enough not to realize, that’s on you for making a bad deal”

@BY272727 I like to think of them more of auctioneers running a dutch auction, but teams and artists have become the biggest scalpers. But also, scalpers are why they have to gouge fans! Get rid of scalpers and they'll just give away all the tickets to fans

@TicketNews Sorry, it was him speaking at a conference, not one of the hearings. He also references their partnership with OVG @ Moody Center for an example of their success (I guess with the pardon maybe that's true now?) 🤣 celebrityaccess.com/2023/03/09/liv…

Ticketmaster has long insisted it has no control over ticket prices. But internal records show just how dedicated the company is to pushing partners to approve price-surging tech, and how actively it uses them ticketnews.com/2026/03/platin…

@jsrailton @Plaid So what's the solution here? Most of my bank accounts require me to use Plaid to link other accounts. So if I want to be able to move money, I'm essentially required to use plaid (or find some small bank not on plaid).

2/ What's the deal with @Plaid? I find people are dimly aware about something involving connecting banking accounts. I bet you don't know that Plaid helps themselves to mountains of your financial data in exchange for the convenience.

UPDATE: @Plaid for AI happened faster than I warned. We are in a historic transformation around AI agents. Disruption will extend to the core of your privacy. Companies know the appeal of agentic AI & are working to lock consumers into ecosystems designed to maximize data extraction. It's not too late, but it might be soon. But the thing about transformative moments is that new possibilities often open simultaneously with the risks. We need to build, experiment with & use good private + open AI tools, local models that respect privacy by default & confidential inference that prevents companies from mining the data they process. Do that & give us a fighting chance for future that respects our freedom, and our boundaries. Sleep on the challenge of building openly & we relinquish the playing field to the same companies and dynamics that already degrade our autonomy...only faster & everywhere.

We're about to see a new surveillance trap: "Plaid for AI" This will look like slick middleware that seamlessly hooks CRMs to Claude, gmail to GPT-5 etc, etc. UX will be great & founders well-meaning. And then the VCs will ask: what else can we do with this sick tokenflow data? And so a new generation of founders will rediscover fire: the data they route is more valuable than fees they get for routing it. Spoiler: Your ISP discovered this. And now sells your data. Financial services companies discovered this. And now sell your data. AI middleware companies are next. Because if they're routing data to inference providers, they get seeing who is querying what, when & how. Unprecedented window into thought process, tool calls, proprietary workflows. Already a scarce, valuable resource mostly available to the big inference providers (key part of their moat!). Only going to be more so. But it also smells like commercial insight, business & market intelligence for days... So, you build in surveillance and monetization becomes your big defensible margin. And then one day the warrants arrive... Or maybe you've been clever and, despite some founder discomfort that the VCs pushed through, you just quietly built a for-government dashboard during your Series C...

@TheMarketRiskG1 @BY272727 @ScottFriedman3 Outside of USA vs Mexico, every other Houston game looked similar or worse than this. Astros had prime seats (diamond club, insperity, and CSL club seating) just sitting on the primary for this game. Could've gotten Diamond Club or Insperity off the secondary for under $200 @ 7pm

@forcemm @TicketPolicy @eventticketsctr @Ben__Kruger You keep arguing you're pro-consumer, yet are against their interests at every single turn, except when it's financially beneficial for you to be pro-consumer. Remember how you were 100% on board with their data to Persona? Any thoughts on my concerns now that they've been hacked

@TicketPolicy @eventticketsctr @Ben__Kruger They are tickets not unregulated equities. Liquidity shouldn’t not be in the conversation of putting tickets in fans hands! Can you stop your short selling too? Dynamic exists for one reason to damage arbitrage opportunities for scalpers. Enough of the nonsense from you people

@TicketsData No other exchange operates like this and I have issues outstanding that are now over a year old. It's hard to say intentional for sure, but it's definitely incompetence with leaning towards intentional cuz they dont resolve it (they sent emails claiming to fix so they're aware).

@TicketsData Yup, but even if they are notified, SH support doesn't even know how to problem solve. It ends up getting passed on and they will take a month to respond...for an event hours/days away. I catch this stuff and notify them, but they are completely useless.

@tommydprimetim1 From what I've seen in some of the senate hearings, they haven't exactly been 100% truthful. Is it enough to be charged with perjury? Doubtful, but it's a liability that's out there. I also can't imagine they don't want a light shining on all their biz practices & internal comms

@kapkap42 I mean retaliation for Stubhub making these posts, not that they have never considered locking xfers. There are already notifications in all accounts about pending transfers to my knowledge...pretty sure that rolled out 6+ months ago.

Appreciate the comment, but there is no way they don't already regularly consider these things. At WTC a few years ago (when TM still attended) they said during their panel that recipients would "soon" see incoming transfers within their account (so they didn't have to hunt for an email). So it almost sounds like this was already half built (and indefinitely shelved...)

Imagine if this 'new persona' running the StubHub account on X ends up being the thing that motivates Ticketmaster to lock transfers to the original recipient email, causing Stubhub's "relay transfer" setup to break overnight and StubHub is staring at least 8 figures+ in chargebacks from inaccessible tickets. @alixanfang is smart, wonder is she is aware of the situation? @ScottFriedman3
StubHub@StubHub

we couldn’t agree more & it shouldn’t have to be this way!! since Ticketmaster combined with Live Nation, the average cost of tickets went up 150%. Ticketmaster makes it impossible for real fans to get tickets anymore. We’re a marketplace, so fans set prices. Ticketmaster controls theirs with dynamic pricing and their CEO has said tickets should cost more 🤢
