@Renlovesfungus Knowing basic grammar is fine but it is not how to teach writing. That is about teaching composition and effect - thinking and composing like a writer. Most writing sessions confuse children by grammatical terms rather than anything about composition.

19 years ago today, my brother took his own life. I have nothing profound to say. It still hurts. It will always hurt. If you ever need support, ever feel totally overwhelmed, please call 988. Reach out. Talk. You ARE loved.

Barbara Bleiman 🎓 Education is Conversation
Learning *about* a book, being given knowledge of context, being tested on that, annotating extracts based on what your teacher tells you, is not the same as reading a book. In KS3, students need to read lots of books & talk about them, alongside studying some in more detail.

Try doing these things without your phone: - Eat without your phone. - Walk without your phone. - Cook without your phone. - Work without your phone. - Read without your phone. - Laugh without your phone. - Think without your phone. - Exercise without your phone. - Talk to someone without your phone. - Spend time with family without your phone. - Be creative without your phone. - Watch movies without your phone. - Sit in silence without your phone. - Study without your phone. - Enjoy nature without your phone. - Sleep without your phone. Is it even possible??👀

Driving the same car for over 10 years is normal. Using the same phone until it breaks and packs up is normal. Taking food to work everyday is absolutely normal. Repeating the same clothes and shoes is very normal. Saying no to things you can't afford is very normal. Be normal.

@melina_b_harris i don't like saying this but it was my son Eddie's death which precipitated mass vaccination of children with Men A and C vaccine. I can tell the story another time, but it was off the back of a radio interview I did alongside the Chief Medical Officer just after Eddie died.

@rennieparker These never cease to impress me. A beautiful museum piece for everyone to see, touch and actually use, clearly labelled (VR) for all to see. What an amazing legacy for the founders of @RoyalMail. #PennyBlackDay 🤩📮🎉

Students absolutely benefit from learning how sentences work. But strong writing doesn’t grow from sentence drills alone. It grows when students have ideas worth writing about and time to draft, revise, and expand those ideas.
