When you see Neera Tanden depict herself as an expert on "electability," please remember that Tanden was one of the architects of the Hillary Clinton 2008 campaign that explicitly insisted that Barack Obama could not win a general election.

If you can’t trust someone to legislate in the interests of the average citizen, but instead have to wonder if EVERY leg vote is being biased towards foreign and wealthy influence… yeah the resume doesn’t matter.
Taking Super PAC money, particularly PACs with explicit foreign influence, should be immediately disqualifying because it creates a conflict of interest.

Note the absence of any statement about Haley’s service to the country or President Obama. I get the opposition to AIPAC. I just wonder if the people of Michigan see this as the only thing that matters in this race, given how many are struggling to make ends meet.

Note the absence of any effort to defend AIPAC's spend or the tens of millions in special interest money of all sorts backing Stevens. Because it's indefensible and terrible for the Democratic Party.

The Tea Party swept 2010. 63 House Seats, 6 governorships, 5 full leg and gov combos, 700 state seats, and 20 addl state legislatures.
That influenced redistricting and entrenched gerrymandering for the last 1.5 decades. Then by 2014 the Tea Party had effectively established strong state ops and drove 9 Senate flips and changed the entire party narrative and internal control structure.
That changed how 2016 primaries were run and what the messaging was. That got us Trump.
And at the end of Obama and early Trump I, we had a SCOTUS changeover from Senate/McConnel duplicitousness. And that SCOTUS gutted the VRA and affirmed gerrymandering, entrenching the Tea Party’s original REDMAP goals.

Moderates are not a real voting block. It is nomenclature derived from self-labeling… not voting behavior.
Outsiders and anti-establishment candidates are more attractive to voters than policy “moderates.”

I might have been on board with that before all the horrible candidates he successfully backed e.g. in the New York primary.
The party can't function nationally if we're driving away everyone who isn't an urban leftist. Moderates could have won general elections in those seats. Moderates can't win elsewhere in the country if DSA politicians are the standard-bearers.

I think Democrats need to stop taking the loudest most unstable characters online and using them to develop how they understand certain factions of the Democratic Party. Zohran is correct here.

I do not blame folks who feel this way anymore. When you look at two candidates funded by special interests that will not functionally change a broken system while candidates who actually speak to something different being possible continue to be defeated, people give up. They see a ping pong match between Democrats and Republicans without any lasting progress. Rights are used as bargaining chips and it's hard not to think there's truth to the feeling held by many that things like abortion are just seen as fundraising tools.

Spanberger is as popular as Mamdani with Dems (she's at 77% in this poll). She's down with independents 50%. That's actually a larger lesson for purple states- they are not as liberal as people seem to think.

I think it’s my default response to any NYPost article to be incredulous, particularly quoting Rep Luna as a source, even if it’s not about her alien Nephilim theories.
But if there are more complaints, if witnesses come forward, I do think there should be an expanded investigation into his inappropriate behavior. Creeps gonna creep.

You won’t find me saying that the Hill doesn’t have a long history of sexism and abuse. It’s a disaster.
But “Gallego’s relationships deserve more scrutiny because of the power dynamic” is different from “this was an abuse of power.” The first can be true without proving the second. That distinction matters.

According to the article They weren’t subordinates. They worked for different congressional reps from Texas. There was no supervisory connection, no professional dependency, and as far as we know no favors exchanged, no abuse of power, and no coercion. This was consensual.
If those facts change, we can reconsider. As the facts stand it was improper, perhaps politically unwise, but not unethical.
If a CEO dated a much younger person at a different company, but in the same industry, it might be frowned upon like all large age gaps are. But it’s not unethical or a violation of any workplace standard I’ve ever encountered.
