Blind Camera One of the most intriguing projects I've had the privilege to curate is 'Blind Camera' by Mexican artist Diego Trujillo Pisanty. In its acceptance of the machine's limitations and biases, this project produces experimental images that transcend the boundaries of conventional AI models. In the artist's own words: "Blind Camera is an AI-powered device that generates pictures from sound instead of light while preserving the experience of using a point-and-shoot camera. The horn is aimed at a sound and with the push of a button it's converted into an image. Images are therefore framed with ears instead of eyes since the camera can hear but cannot see. The resulting 'photo' is indexical of the surrounding soundscape and not of the scene in front of the camera. Developing an ANN and its training dataset seemed daunting and even absurd for an artist. However it provided the flexibility and control to tweak the resulting image’s aesthetics and narratives. It also allowed the code to be written foregrounding artistic intent. The process of producing Blind Camera’s code prompted reflection about how AI written by artists would work and how it could differ from currently available models." **Blind camera will be part of the Post Photographic Perspectives III group show launching mid-April via the @FellowshipAi Daily Program.

@WIWYAGE It's true. It took me 7 months to reach Shanghai but I was on the road more than a year because I kept traveling. This is a quick photo scan. I need to properly scan the negatives. I have the scanner, I just need to find the time. And then maybe mint the best ones...
