SUMMER 2026 After a week at @ArtBasel, I wanted to recap all the moving parts for my work this summer. Feeling blessed with work being shown at: -San Diego Museum of Art -Fundación MAPFRE, Madrid -Art Collection Deutsche Börse -Patricia Conde Galería, CDMX -Museum für Gestaltung Zürich -Louise Alexander Gallery, Port Cervo, Italy 1/ 15 Years of Landmark Acquisitions San Diego Museum of Art Until September 7th Work exhibited: Car Poolers #21 This exhibition marks the centennial of The San Diego Museum of Art, celebrating a select few of the many thousands of important works of art added to the collection in its recent history. Since the Museum first opened its doors to the public in 1926 as the Fine Arts Gallery of San Diego, it has become home to significant holdings of old masters as well as Modern and contemporary art. More recently, the Museum has made great strides to augment its core collections of art from East Asia, South Asia, the Islamic world, Europe, the United States, and Latin America. In many cases, this has led to commissions of works by contemporary artists, bridging the historic with the art of our times. The merger with the Museum of Photographic Arts in 2023 greatly enhanced the collection of photography. As the Museum currently embarks on an important endeavor to expand the building’s west wing, doubling its display space with an extension designed by Foster + Partners, other gifts have entered the collection, including the formidable Impressionist, Post-Impressionist and Modern collection of Toni Bloomberg. Today The San Diego Museum of Art’s collection boasts over 35,000 works of art. The astounding quality of the additions to the collection, especially in its recent history, are testament not only to the Museum’s directorial and curatorial vision, but moreover to the many generous individuals who have gifted art to share with this city and its many diverse communities. Highlights include works by Pablo Picasso, Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, Jusepe de Ribera, John Singer Sergeant, Louise Nevelson, Alfredo Jaar, Nick Cave, Gabriele Münter, David Hockney, Lucas Cranach the Younger, Hugo Crosthwaite, Albrecht Dürer, Ala Ebtakar, Lalla Essaydi, Utagawa Hiroshige, Wifredo Lam, Berenice Abbott, Pan Gongkai, Sergio Hernandez, and many more. It is a collection created by and for the people of San Diego and is shared internationally through publications, loans to other museums, and with touring exhibitions worldwide.

.@SFMOMA acquires two of my works for its permanent collection The acquisition was made through the Catherine Clark Gallery in SF and with the help of three generous collectors. It is an honor that a museum with such a legacy for contemporary art and photography continues to support my practice. Their first acquisition of my work was in 2012. This would be the 4th body of work they acquire. This work was created 10 years ago and still speaks of the current issues between the US and Mexico. Daughter on the USA-Mexico Border Wall, at Friendship Park, California., Mother on the Mexico-USA Border Wall, Friendship Park, Playas de Tijuana, Mexico. 2017 sfmoma.org/press-release/…

One image, 140 days. Each square has its own article, post. Each square marks an important mark in Normies history. Each mark is result of hours of work, calls and build. NORMIES.

This was our first project to mix CGI, 3D, photography, and AI. In 2022, few photographers were working this way. @Jonasbendiksen used the combination to tell a story about misinformation, and then to demonstrate it. ↓ Here’s the story "The Book of Veles" by Jonas Bendiksen is a project that explores how a small town in North Macedonia became notorious for creating fake news during the 2016 US Presidential election. In this town, residents set up hundreds of fake news websites that looked like American political news sources. They made money by getting people to click on ads that appeared on these sites. This fake news from Veles spread quickly through social media like Facebook and Twitter, influencing public opinion. Some say it even affected the election outcome by boosting the visibility of Donald Trump's campaign. But here’s the twist: Bendiksen’s project itself turned out to be fake. He revealed that all the people in the project were not real—they were actually computer-generated 3D models. Even the text was all written by artificial intelligence. The backgrounds in the images were real photographs of empty spaces in Veles, which were transformed into 3D environments where these virtual characters were placed. So, "The Book of Veles" is not just about fake news; it’s also a commentary on how easily reality can be manipulated in the digital age.

Today is my birthday!🥳🎂🎈 I usually don’t announce it on socials, but this year I’m launching my new Chikai Films website! My birthday wish is for you to subscribe to my new YT channel!🙏 (link in comment below) The new site is where my film work will reside. I’ve found that my film practice is very distinct from my art practice and it needed its own home. I’ll be posting new short films on the YT channel and the vertical shorts that you may have already seen here on X. I’ve realized that the characters I’ve created in my shorts is a direct reflection of my inner monologue and they also happen to be AI agents that I’ve created within my cinematic AI workflow that I have given names too. It should be a fun way to see what is going through my mind as I make my films. Thanks for all of your support!

The ground truth here is that today’s most desirable culture assets form around shared experience, networks and community - not what legacy institutions tell you is important and valuable.

Alexis Ohanian (@alexisohanian) says collectibles are his generation's contemporary art: "Having an '86 Fleer Jordan rookie card in mint condition on my desk is a more satisfying flex for me than having, like, a Warhol." "I'm a big fan of collectible video games, match-worn athletic apparel, etc. All these things are culture assets for us." "I think this is our contemporary art. Especially for a generation of us who grew up collecting and idolizing [these athletes]."

Artist talk with → @niceaunties 👵💖 presenting her ongoing project The Auntieverse! (we launched it on 2023!) 🗓️ July 13, 11:00 AM EST at 📍Harvard University → CAMLab Cave, Lower Level, 485 Broadway, Cambridge, MA. 🎟️ Free and open to the public. The Auntieverse is an imaginary parallel universe populated by aunties and fantastical creatures made of plastic and trash, with recurring characters appearing across images and video narratives. The project grows through everyday life, history, pop culture, and the small rituals of daily observation. The work documents and reinterprets a generation of aunties, their behaviors, quirks, and forms of expression, functioning as a living archive. Many scenes do not exist in reality: generative technology creates them, and every image and video is then refined through manual editing, compositing, and storytelling. niceaunties is a Singapore-based artist, designer, and public speaker whose practice centers on the cultural figure of the "auntie," exploring food, beauty, care, and environmental awareness through digital art, mixed media, and technology.
