Nigeria's challenges lie in its leadership, as highlighted in Fela Kuti's music and Chinua Achebe's literary works, particularly in "The Trouble with Nigeria." Achebe posits that the root of the Nigerian problem is the inability or reluctance of leaders to uphold the ideals of authentic leadership, such as leading by example and taking responsibility. Shockingly, three decades after the book's release, the situation in Nigeria has only deteriorated. This article highlights how Nigerian politics often lack issue-based policies and ideological principles. This void allows influential individuals and interest groups to exploit the lack of coherence through political godfatherism, which enables them to maintain their hold on power and resources. To address this, there are specific steps that you can take.

@DrOaikhena I mean look at the face on that poster and tell me how on earth any reasonable person thought he was presidential material by any means. This is the problem, we kept digging the holes deeper for ourselves, and then turned around to complain.

@DrOaikhena It is how Nigerians are applauding the tomfoolery in his comment section that is mind boggling. How do you applaud part of your problems as a nation? Nigeria and its citizens have a long way to go.

We Africans need to start reflecting on our lives and experiences. We should pause and ask, “who are we really”? And what happened during colonialism? We often believe we have an identity because we belong to a “tribe” or follow a religion. However, we need to address what happened to our ancestors, grandparents, and parents, and the trauma we inherited. Proper therapy and healing of our identities are essential. Most importantly, we must ensure that what happened in the past never happens again.

At 40, I realized I don’t know my own culture. I can quote Scripture but don’t know what Ikenga means. I speak English better than Igbo.

So 58 out of 146 students in the law faculty at @UniIbadan supposedly made 1st class? That is like 40% of the class? It is either a class spectacularly littered with geniuses or @inecnigeria now awards the grades in the faculty. Congratulations to #INEC.

All we need is a transparent electoral system and an INEC that is truly independent. Every other permutation is agreeing and accepting the corrupt status quote. What happened in 2023 was a broad day light electoral heist, a complete robbery. One place where POs vote didn’t count the most was in the North. They colluded, and robbed him off. I don’t say this blindly. The votes of the Igbos in the North were suppressed. Ask them and they will tell you. From polling station to polling station, in places where they gathered in their numbers and cast the votes they found a completely lower numbers announced. These are things we should channel our energies to. And if it feels unsurmountable to us then we are not ready yet. We are always looking for saviours and easy paths.

SE has the lowest number of voters in Nigeria. Only SE can't make PO president. Twice, Buhari didn't need our votes to win, same as Tinubu. It's time to love our assumed enemies else we #KeepPointingNorth when PO fails again next year. Emotions and sentiments don't win you elections in Africa, and nobody is coming to save you. Power is taken, not given. Nobody will give you party ticket because you are Igbo, or the best.

Nigerians don’t fall for this. Dino is part of the click, he’s just good at pretending he is on your side. So since after that election day, he disappeared. Only to come here now to massage your emotions. Don’t be fooled by their performances. He lacks consistency and the innocence to be taken serious. Be wise people!

I’ve thought about this for a long time and I think we’re lying to ourselves. The real difference between first-world countries and countries like Nigeria is not intelligence, not resources, not even corruption. It’s order. In places that work, rules are boring because they’re enforced. In Nigeria, rules are suggestions because nothing happens. You can break traffic laws. Nothing happens. You can jump queues. Nothing happens. You can ignore deadlines. Nothing happens. So people learn early: do whatever you like. Yet we expect miracles later. We teach kids alphabets and numbers from Nursery 1, but we don’t teach consequences, fairness, time, or respect for systems. So we raise smart people who still destroy systems. If we’re serious about becoming a proper country in 20 years, this has to start in school from Nursery 1. Order. Rules. Rewards. Consequences.

Do not seek refuge beneath the moral canopy of Peter Obi. His goodwill is not a cloak for political absolution, nor is it a disinfectant for a past steeped in the very rot Nigerians are desperate to escape. You and Peter Obi are not one, cannot be one, and will never be confused by any honest mind, the difference is neither subtle nor cosmetic; it is moral, ideological, and existential. Peter Obi represents rupture. You represent continuity. He signifies restraint, prudence, and a clean break from the banquet of excess; you are a relic of the same banquet,an enduring beneficiary of the same diseased order that has bled this nation dry. You are not the antidote to Nigeria’s affliction; you are an inflamed appendage of the same leprous limb that has crippled her for decades. Do not attempt to launder a compromised legacy through borrowed credibility. History does not permit such fraud. If there is a cross to bear, it is yours alone, earned by years of entanglement with the machinery of decay. Carry it without conscripting the innocent. Carry it without pretending that a new Nigeria can be midwifed by old hands soaked in old sins. Nigeria is yearning for departure, not recycling. For healing, not rebranding. And no amount of coalition arithmetic can blur the clear moral line between what was, and what must never be again.

If individuals in your position took responsibility for their actions, you would acknowledge your part in creating that “satanic” APC and seize this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to restore your image by listening to the majority of Nigerians. Right now, you find yourself at a crossroads. My advice is: don’t be the cause of Nigeria remaining in a coma for the second time. Making a mistake once is forgivable, but repeating the same error no longer qualifies as a mistake—it becomes sabotage to Nigeria’s progress, and it will be remembered for a long time.
