In Matthew 2:2, the Magi ask: “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews?” In John 19:19, the inscription on the cross reads: “Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.” Jesus was, in fact, a Jew who lived in what is now modern-day Israel.

That will upset a few ... it shouldn't but here goes: Jesus was not a “Christian”; he was a Jew living, teaching and dying as part of the Jewish people. He was born to a Jewish mother, raised in a Jewish community, kept Shabbat and Jewish festivals, and taught from the Hebrew Bible in synagogues. His arguments were with other Jews, inside a Jewish conversation about law, justice and God – not against Judaism itself. Remembering that Jesus was Jewish matters. It cuts straight across centuries of antisemitism that tried to turn “Jesus” into a weapon against the very people he belonged to. If your faith, culture or curiosity brings you to Jesus, it should also bring you to a basic truth: without the Jewish people, there is no story to tell.

If you are a Christian and you hate the Jewish people, you don't take God's word seriously. You need to open your Bible. Christians are called to bless and comfort the Jewish people.. to speak tenderly to Jerusalem and pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
