Don't tell Indian families this. Most educated Indian kids grow up with three or four languages. In my case Bengali, Hindi, English and Punjabi...French later in life. Most Swiss are comfortable in French and German, and often English. Monolingualism is an Anglo feature.

The “forbidden experiment” — raising a child with no language exposure — is forbidden for very good reasons. But has anyone studied the opposite, what happens to children in extreme polyglot households? Like where they’re hearing 8 languages with equal regularity from birth?

@SiddharthKG7 I don’t find it a virtue! A city must sleep .. stillness and quiet are essential for any organism, including a city to repair and reenergise itself. Not to say that essential and emergency services must always be available ..

@abhishek_tri @nitinwelde I don’t forgive anything.. Mumbai is just not for me.. Last city where I would want to be go for long time ! its inefficiency and our helplessness puts me off completely
English

Bombay makes no sense.
Spent a week and what a paradox.
You can spend ₹2,000 on a perfect meal and 2 hours stuck moving 5 km.
Strangers will go out of their way to help you… while the system around them barely works.
I came from Bandra to Navi Mumbai International Airport in 92 minutes and somehow still left liking the city more.
This shouldn’t happen.
What is it about Bombay that makes people forgive everything?

Has Dhurandhar really liberated India from “Urdu-wood”?
On @kunalkamra88’s show, I argued that it’s actually the opposite. If you take out Urdu and “Muslim” parts from Dhurandhar, there’s nothing left.
You become the thing you hate the most.

In today’s informal interaction with members of the media fraternity, we discussed that India’s energy imports are continuing to flow in from different sources and routes.
We have taken steps to ensure that 100% supply of CNG & PNG to domestic consumers is ensured and other industries continue to get 70-80% of their supplies, despite the war situation.
We are committed to ensure uninterrupted supply of affordable energy to our domestic consumers.
There is no shortage for domestic consumers and no reason to panic.

@AsArunScribeth @the_harkhani No cliche really..it is a majority case where a hierarchy exists which believes wife to be inferior and expects her to seek husband’s approval most of the times and accept his public humiliation. A society where wife jokes are normalised but domestic violence is rampant.
English

@the_harkhani wohi toh.. They should come out of their hollow bubble of clichés.
English

This is why many femalecentric films feel unwatchable. Instead of portraying real struggles, they lazily turn the husband into a subtle villain. In reality, many successful women have supportive partners, but these films reduce men to antagonists. It’s a tired cliché.
saif@nightchanges
how beautifully this movie shows that a stranger who doesn't speak her language understands her better than her husband
