Carney: "The old relationship we had with the United States based on deepening integration of our economies and tight security and military cooperation is over."

I believe this visit was premature for the EU. Europe should also consider the potential contributions of all EU member states, rather than relying predominantly on Germany and France. Moreover, Ukraine set the tone a few days ago by engaging with representatives of the new Syrian administration, likely seeking to advance its strategic interests in the ongoing war and bolster its influence in the Middle East. However, for the EU wouldn’t a more cautious, 'wait-and-see' approach be wiser given the complexity and fluidity of the situation? The European Union and the UN have already provided substantial aid for Syria. We need patience to fully understand how events will evolve. Notably, representatives of the new Syrian administration declined to shake hands with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock during her visit to Syria. That is both disheartening and disrespectful. @eu_eeas
