When we talk about ASO, everyone talks about metadata, keywords, title, screenshots, etc, but rarely anyone talks about the product side... And I think the algo is not so stupid to just factor whether you put a keyword in the title, subtitle, or on the 2nd or 5th position in your metadata keywords. I honestly think that there should be more focus on: - freemium vs hard paywall - improving product - SEO (yes) So in this screenshot, there is an app I had for almost 2y, and tbh it was pretty average, until recently I spent some time and improved it a lot. For many months, it stayed at the 9-10 position, and now, after 1-3 weeks from the release, it suddenly jumped to #7. Of course, it's just a singular event, so with time, we will see if the trend will continue, but it is a significant change I haven't seen in the long time. And this is what I did: - rebuilt the website and added a lot of pages for pSEO, updated marketing url - improved the product and I honestly think that I offer way more than my competitors - rebuilt the onboarding slightly - kept freemium Personally, I think hard paywalls hurt ASO (and product metrics). I had a few apps of my own that actually dropped down when I added more aggressive upsell (but still premium though -- but I think a % of people churn just by seeing a paywall)
