@NewsAlgebraIND The news if constructing bridges is being touted as breakthroughs and prominently highlighted. The way the railway minister presents is akin to inaugurating after completion. Imagine the time it will take to reach where China stands.

@NewsAlgebraIND First one is under construction for over a decade. Nobody knows date of completion. Realtors in Hyderabad have started selling plots along the route as if trains will stop everywhere

The good news coming out of this match so far is that the cricket enthusiast’s will get to see the wonder kid again in 2 days time against GT , for the 2nd eliminator 😍 Interest in IPL has been reduced to only witnessing Sooryavanshi’s batting prowess … but for him there’s no charm left in this tournament ☹️

Vaibhav Suryavanshi played an innings that belonged to another planet. A near-century in 29 balls. Bowlers may need psychiatric treatment after this assault. And yet… somehow he missed the hundred. That’s the only part that felt unfair. 💔🏏

@dmuthuk While SBI SharePrice has improved to 956 from 800 on 1st Jan 2025, global ranking down from 231 to 276. Power of Dollar since rupee has depreciated during the period. Similarly, other companies lost out due to this reason.

A few years back, In one of the court hearings that I was forced to attend, We saw this old couple doing the rounds at a high court. They carried files and papers of many years. The weight of the files represents the years they spent pleading, begging and seeking justice. Over the years, the burden and weight is such that they pull it along on a wooden trolley. They hold each other's hands tight as they fight another battle, another date, another adjournment, year after year. This is the best example of our justice delivery system which is lax, insensitive and lacks empathy. For students who want to invest themselves in social change, impact lives whilst perusing a successful career, Law is the best option. Choosing law is choosing to be the voice for people such as this old couple. To fight for justice where injustice reigns. As a lawyer, you don’t just change laws—you change lives. You stand in the gap for the marginalized, protect the vulnerable, and challenge the status quo. Law isn’t just a career; it’s a mission to shape a fairer world, where every individual, no matter their background, has a chance at justice. The ripple effect of your work will touch families, communities, and entire societies. Law gives you the power to leave an indelible mark on humanity's fight for equality. PS. This picture was taken by colleague of mine when we were at the court.

FATHER’S CONTRIBUTION IS ALWAYS THE GREATEST Though we are from an upper caste and reasonably well-off by rural standards, my parents and grandparents from both the sides of my family were unlettered. My native village Mangapet is remote, situated deep inside the forest and about 125 KMs from Warangal, our district headquarters town then. I studied up to 7th class in Upper Primary School in our village and from 8th to 10th in Zilla Parishad Secondary School, Thimmampet which is about 5 KMs from our village. There were no roads then. We would walk on the bullock cart tracks which double up as storm water channels during rainy season or through paddy fields to the school daily. The nearest bus point was Eturnagaram which was about 15 KMs from our village. APSRTC used to operate two buses between Warangal and Eturnagaram. So, anyone from my village wanting to visit Warangal had to walk 15 Kms to Eturnagaram to catch bus. I took my 10th class Board examination in March 1976. Our then Taluka headquarters was Mulugu which is about 75 Kms from our village. It was the only 10th class Board Examination Centre for all the schools in that Taluka. Boarding and lodging was an issue. My paternal grand uncle who was a freedom fighter, had an acquaintance in Mulugu. So, upon his reference my father took me there. In spite of caste difference, they were magnanimous to accommodate me in their home for the duration of the examination and took good care of me. Out of about 25 students from our school who took the examination, I was the only one to pass. 3 others were passed after about a month when the government added 5 grace marks to each of those who narrowly failed. If I remember correctly, not more 30% in entire undivided AP state passed 10th class Board examination in 1976. Even though I barely scraped through with just 35 marks in English which was the minimum for pass, I almost became a hero among my schoolmates. Please be noted that there is nothing extraordinary my above narration as that was the normal prevailing situation in much of India. People of my generation and earlier had similar life experiences. But what is extraordinary is my father’s role in my life. My father was a man of few words. In our area almost all boys and girls after 10th class (whether passed or failed) would get into their family vocation and soon get married. And that’s it. When I passed 10th class Board examination my father indicated to our family members and relatives whose houses were all in the same street, that he would send me to Warangal for further studies. It led to almost a kind of riotous situation with everyone against the proposal in view of uncertainties in a far away urban place and each one had his/her own reasons to negate the proposal. The only person who stood like a rock with my father was mother’s paternal aunt, who as a child widow raised my mother and maternal uncle when they became orphans after their father was killed by Razakars. Overruling all opposers, my father and my mother’s paternal aunt took me to Warangal in June 1976 to join me in a junior college. But he had no idea how to go about it. So, he went his friend who was an adthiya or arthiya belonging to Vaishya caste. That person was barely literate. So, he in turn took us to another Vaishya who was a graduate, and he guided in my admission into AVV Junior College, Warangal. Then the issue was about my lodging and boarding. When my father and my mother’s paternal aunt were discussing in hushed tones, my father’s friend (arthiya) sensed it and told my father to leave me with him by saying that I would be the 6th child in his family (he had 5 children). He took me to his home which had only 4 rooms including kitchen, and I became the 10th member of his family (he, his wife, his mother-in-law, his 4 sons, his daughter and his eldest daughter-in-law). Their house was small, but their hearts were too big. I lived with them for 2 years as their family member. Later I went out to complete rest of my studies, and then joined IPS in 1986. The whole point of this narration is that had my father not decided against all opposition, to send me for further studies and sacrificed so much for giving me a better future, where would I have been? Whatever I have been, it is entirely because of my late father alone. I owe everything to my late father. Even after several births I would never be able repay my debt to him. So, for me every day is Father’s Day.

Indian public does not realize who is on the other side of their zero sum trades. Biggest hedge funds of the world have invested 'tens of millions of dollars', as per their claim, to develop these strategies. Why provide them easy source of money making with random punting (by you) on one side and sophisticated trading models on the other side.

The whole nation is consuming Diageo India products. Let me tell you why. India's current GDP $3.7 trillion USA $28 trillion China $18 trillion Many are saying India GDP would be $70 trillion in next 20 years. That is not surprising in a country where a fund manager expects Trent to be a $20 trillion marketcap company. Use arithmetic and common sense. If God willing, the best we can expect is 6% long term growth, as our base is also becoming higher. We would be a middle income country in next 20 years. Drink less. Drink better. Don't consume too much Diageo.

@iRadhikaGupta We need to liberalise travel to Lakshadweep. When I went there ten years ago, entry was strictly through Tourism dept for a specified period. I was told that an ordinary person cannot visit by ship by buying a ticket. I don't know how things are at present. 1/2

I am obsessed with the potential of a Indian tourism and have always wondered why we have to pay so much to go Maldives when we have Lakshadweep and Andaman. The answer is 1) infrastructure and 2) marketing. The PM’s recent visit has put the spotlight on these destinations. Our hotel brands have shown us time and again that we know how to do luxury like no one else. Let’s take the best of Indian hospitality to build a world class tourism experience.
