Was once the world's biggest Paul Haig fan. Dislike poor service. All views reflect personal opinions. Some are my own.

🎥IRAN WAR PRIMER Six days on from the start of this war, what have we learnt about the economic consequences? Here's our latest primer, covering: 1. Why gas prices are up so much more than oil 2. The ticking timebomb facing Gulf oil producers 3. It's not just oil/gas - we need to talk about helium & sulphuric acid! 4. What does this mean for the 21st century economic model for Gulf states? All that and much more in 10 mins. Longer than usual. But a lot to cover in this one 👇

"Cash for access" to tourist locations in public areas. In a week when the city of Rome brought in a €2 fee to visit the Trevi Fountain in the heart of the capital, how do you feel about paying for access? And will the fee succeed in tackling overtourism? independent.co.uk/travel/news-an…

Auschwitz Memorial

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. We must remember that it did not start from gas chambers. This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder. Auschwitz took time.

Once again, I post this @AuschwitzMuseum photo of Istvan Reiner, as I do every year on #HolocaustMemorialDay. The Nazis had given him a ticket punch to play with. Such a radiant, happy little soul, innocent and pure. And then they gassed him, and snuffed him out. #NeverForget🕯️

Some personal news: I am stepping down as Chair of BGC and moving on to be Head of the UK Public Affairs Practice at Brunswick Group, the leading global advisory firm. I will continue as a freelance business adviser + remain as a Board Member and Director at Nottingham Forest FC
Betting and Gaming Council@BetGameCouncil

BGC Chair @MichaelDugher is stepping down after six years of exceptional service to the Betting and Gaming Council and the regulated betting and gaming industry. Michael was the BGC’s founding Chief Executive for more than four years before becoming Chair in April 2024. He led the BGC from its inception, bringing together previously separate bodies representing land-based casinos, high street bookmakers and online betting, gaming and bingo. He steered the industry through the Government’s Gambling Act Review and the publication of the Gambling White Paper in 2023, which introduced the most extensive legislative and regulatory changes in a generation. Under his leadership, the BGC introduced and adopted 20 new safer gambling codes containing 100 new standards, often going beyond regulatory requirements. A lifelong fan of horseracing, Michael also launched a number of charity initiatives, including the Britannia Stakes charity race at Royal Ascot and the Grand National Charity Bet. With thanks to BGC members, these initiatives have raised more than £6.5 million for a wide range of good causes, particularly supporting racing and armed forces charities. Michael leaves a proud and lasting legacy at the BGC, having united the industry, raised standards and helped ensure the sector is well placed to meet future challenges. We thank Michael for his leadership, commitment and service to the BGC and the wider industry, and wish him every success for the future. @OfficialFV does anyone else have issues with their orders from this company? Communications are strained as is the truth it would seem. I cannot understand why my dining table is so hard to get a firm delivery date.
