@JaxTeller718 @aakashgupta OR - as Greek mythology says Odessysus ends up with Achilles armor which was forged by thr gods after he fell at Troy. So… maybe take this movie as pure to the story.

@aakashgupta Listen, I am not one of those "the armor isn't realistic" types, but what in the name of the DC Universe is this?

Christopher Nolan just showed Trojan Horse footage from The Odyssey at CinemaCon. The business math behind this movie is wild. $250 million budget. His most expensive film ever. First movie shot entirely on IMAX 70mm cameras. No franchise, no sequel, no superhero IP. The source material is a 3,000-year-old poem. IMAX opening weekend tickets went on sale a full year before release. They sold out in 12 hours. $1.5 million in ticket revenue before a single TV spot aired. The trailer pulled 121.4 million views in 24 hours. More than Universal's Wicked sequel. More than double what Oppenheimer's first trailer did in the same window. Today's footage confirmed Charlize Theron is playing Calypso, the nymph who kept Odysseus trapped on her island for seven years. The scene opens with Damon asking her "How long have I been here?" He can't remember if he had a wife or a son. That's pure Nolan. Starting the story in captivity, with a man who's lost his own identity. The same filmmaker who opened Memento backwards. The cast is absurd: Damon, Holland, Hathaway, Pattinson, Zendaya as Athena, Lupita Nyong'o, Theron, Bernthal as Menelaus, Safdie as Agamemnon, Mia Goth, Leguizamo, Elliot Page, Travis Scott. Nolan joked it would be faster to list who isn't in it. His last five films averaged $680 million worldwide. Oppenheimer made $976 million with an R rating and a three-hour runtime about a physicist. Every studio spent the last decade convinced original films can't open big. Nolan's response: adapt the oldest story in Western literature. Homer's been in public domain for about 2,500 years. Nolan IS the franchise. His name on a poster does what a superhero logo used to do. Universal figured this out when they signed him after Warner Bros let him walk over a streaming window dispute. Twenty years of partnership, gone. July 17. IMDb's most anticipated film of 2026. Built from a poem your ninth-grade English teacher assigned.

Imagine a Christian man who doesn’t wear it for votes, a veteran, a doctor, someone who spreads the message of constitutionalism and the rule of law, a family man loyal to one wife for his entire life, who started a movement in an attempt to educate and make peace at home and abroad. Then imagine the type of sicko that hates this type of man. That pretty much tells you all you need to know about Mark Levin.

Remeber when they would put those big templates on the production car and they would fit on the race car? And also when the cars were not right on the ground … bunch of early 90s races on the nascar channel this last week and even the races with a handful of cars on the lead lap were really good. Actually better than I remembered. Now the statistics look good but almost everyone goes the same speed

Probably the same time they allowed 4 door and front-drive cars in Cup... When Ford replaced the T-Bird in Nascar Cup with the Taurus. Since then, they've pretty much allowed whatever body style a manufacturer wants to race.

@mikejoy500 Mike please answer me when did NASCAR go away from having a manufacture sell a car that a fan could buy with a V8 from the dealership? Early 2000's?

Late 1980s Oldsmobile, Buick and Chevrolet production counterparts were all front wheel drive with no v8 option but were 2-door coupes. The thunderbird was the last rear wheel drive twi door coupe with v8 and similar dimensions as the cup counterpart. Remeber 1993 Cale Yarbaroughs team tested a Mercury Cougar? And the 37 team built a Lincoln Mark VIII.

Great quote @whatisnuclear “We taught the Koreans how to do nuclear when we sold them Combustion Engineering technology. Korea maintained the knowledge, made it better, perfected it. Now, we want it back. So let’s pull ourselves out of the dark ages by bringing that Korean construction management, design expertise, and supply chain back,” Touran said. “Let’s forget about geopolitics — forget about Westinghouse’s cartel — and get the Koreans to come help America.” @whatisnuclear

@mrfriebe @TreeFarmerBC @quakes99 Lack of OE + need for new fuel supply = early ops & cost risks. Natrium’s liquid salt energy storage has fatigue failure OE from CSP use. Issues can be resolved over time, but assuming LWR-level reliability from day one is questionable. Could be a good plant to develop…

The Trump admin is reaching out to GE Hitachi and the South Korean government, to discuss the possibility of building ABWRs or AP1400s, as an alternative to Westinghouse's AP1000. Article link in reply. This raises the ongoing question of whether competition is good, or whether we should pick one large LWR design and build multiple copies, which should reduce costs. ABWRs haven't been built for a long time, and the Koreans may not be allowed to build their APR-1400 PWR in the US, given their settlement with Westinghouse. I personally agree with (article interviewee) Nick Touran. Hire the Koreans to build the first new US nuclear plants. Unlike the US, they still know how to build large nuclear plants. They have the best track record, outside China. If we did that, the Koreans may (hopefully) help re-train Americans on how to build nuclear plants, on time and on budget. Alas, however, it would have to be building the AP1000, as opposed to Korea's APR-1400, which they have the most experience with.

The one that always sticks in my memory bank was the one where Kyle Petty got mud race relief by Davey Allison (ford driver for a Pontiac driver) when Davey had fallen out earlier in the race and KP had some sort of sickness. Seems like Davey did well iirc. I always thought these guys back in those days were interested in what other guys equipment was like.
