Today marks the 4th anniversary of completion of 6 weeks of Radiotherapy for tongue cancer. It was gruesome. ☢️😩 I never saw the faces of my medical team because of Covid; when I rang the bell, there was just me and the nurse who took the picture.

There’s a lovely Yoruba song from South-West Nigeria titled ‘Ise Oluwa ko le baje’ translated ‘God’s handiwork can never be destroyed’. It is a calm reassurance that all the promises and deeds of God in your life will last forever. Head and neck cancers at the moment are taking well over the 62 days in more than 50% of cases from being put on the pathway to treatment starting. This can cost life’s. # headandneckcancermatters @wesstreeting

Head and neck cancers have the longest treatment times of all major cancers, with just over 50% treated within 62 days. Hopefully risk stratification studies such as @EVEREST_HN will streamline referrals and lead to faster treatment for these patients. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

For the 1st time in my life, I am terrified of being targeted because of my ethnicity and religion. Afraid to go to the job I love in the NHS and having to send my kids to camp whilst I work. I’m sad that some of my patients will cancel their appts because of fear too.
