#WATCH | Chandigarh | Congress MP Manish Tewari says, "When we passed the Women's Reservation Bill in 2023, it was Sonia Gandhi's initiative, her commitment that when the UPA government was in power, this bill was first passed in the Rajya Sabha. At that time, some political parties in the Lok Sabha had several apprehensions about it... The Constitution states that one-third of the seats will be given to women based on the census that will take place after 2026 and the subsequent delimitation. Now, they have called this special session (of Parliament). Until now, they have not explained what amendments they want to bring. Meanwhile, this session could have been called even after April 19, when the second phase of elections in West Bengal would have been completed. There is a political motive behind this..."

11th July 2008 : A 14.2 Kg LPG cylinder used to cost an average domestic consumer Rs 304.70 when crude oil prices between 2008-14 were at a record high. Crude Oil touched USD 141.27 on July 11th 2008. 26 th May 2014: LPG cylinder was still at Rs 410 when Crude Oil was at USD 108.05 7 th March 2026 : 14.2 Kg LPG cylinder will now cost Rs 913 when Crude Oil is still at USD 90 When crude oil prices were on the relatively lower side between 2015-2026 with Crude Oil falling as low as USD 26.68 per barrel in February 2016 the benefits were never passed onto the consumer. Government must absorb the price shock at least for now rather than burdening the consumers given that the volatile situation in the Middle East may persist for a while OR is it something the Government is not telling the nation?

The notification changing the Fundamental structure of the Senate and Syndicate of @OfficialPU - Punjab University by invoking powers under Section 72 of the Punjab Reorganisation Act -1966 is patently illegal and a Legal Travesty. @OfficialPU was constituted vide the Punjab University Act -1947 -an East Punjab Act , Act 7 of 1947 that received assent of the Governor of East Punjab on 26 th November-1947 . As the successor Legislative Assembly of East Punjab 1947-1956 , United Punjab -1956-1966 it is only the Punjab Vidhan Sabha that has the powers to amend the Panjab University Act-1947 if the complexion and character of @OfficialPU ‘s Senate or Syndicate has to be changed. By a Notification under Section 72 of the Punjab Reorganisation Act -1966 you can not amend the Punjab University Act -1947. What has to be done directly can not and should not be done indirectly.
