yea man u know me i like to yap esp about this kinda stuff its important and as always take what i say with a grain of salt.. but its good to just talk about this stuff in general i think when its only inside ur head it has a tendency to lose its form, when you talk about it suddenly the issues can be identified and maybe understood.. maybe not.. but one thing is true.. from my experience this is a very common and very important convo for not just people tryin to do music (even part time) but i think most everyone no matter what they wanna do and its an ongoing conversation about what success looks like for each of us and its always changing
English

haha yea i thought of us talking about this same topic way back. its always gonna be a relevant conversation to people tryin to honestly figure things out. cynicism has gotten me far in life in some ways and held me back in others. i think its very interesting once i really started having good reasons to be cynical, i started to be cynical of my cynicism.. cynicism is a self defense tool, you get really good at is reframing the narrative and that can be used strangely enough.. to create hope in an otherwise shitty situation.. its a good spot between naive (toxic) optimism and permanent mistrust of everyone and everything if there is anything i struggle with it is trusting anyone, anything, and their intentions all of these tendencies make us who we are and in some places give us an edge.. but it also makes us feel hopeless when things go wrong or not how we hoped they would.. its not at all like i have made it past any of that i think like most people its a day to day struggle to keep finding reasons to keep the flame lit... also why im always happy to have conversations like this, it really reminds me that its worth it to care about music and art etc even in the face of so many rapid changes to the industry and even as i have changed in many ways

p.s. i stole "the world is as you are" and "focus on the donut not the hole" from lynch which i think he took from others too haha.. but what i think he was getting at with both these quotes is that you are gonna see whatever u are looking for .. TLDR so focus on what you want not what you don't want, and its funny how those realities materialize.. its not some hippie bullshit either, its all there all the different versions of reality for you to interpret how you want, if music is a waste of time, it is.. if it isn't... it isn't...
English

a quote i love "the world is as you are" you are always gonna see reflections of what you hold as 'truth" in the world, truth is.. its all there! any narrative you can think up you can connect those dots, (to our dismay in the POST TRUTH ERA this has become all too concerning) but we all have a tendency to frame the narrative in our own particular way for good reason, its survival, its knowledge, its also ignorance, its bias.. if u look at the scene and see a bunch of people who refuse to grow up, there's truth to it, but you also have to realize that you are also looking at a mirror..you are observing yourself observing them.. not every person in the scene is there for the same reasons.. but connecting those dots proves you right. i talk to a lot of different adults especially since i became a dad, and i would say, there's plenty of adults out there that are stuck perpetually in their glory days..immature in different ways.. its not a music thing.. the bullshit is also not limited to music.. i think one interesting perspective that you may consider is that many young adults seek shelter inside institutions, corporate jobs, religion and politics because the world is extremely chaotic and full of uncertainty.. roles, order, hierarchies, security.. in music and also outside of music i deal with a lot of adults that are emotionally, psychologically, immature some live "ordinary" lives and some are incredibly powerful and wealthy too.. same shit different toilet.. the world is as you are.. its a really wise one liner ive found!

@Taiki_Nulight just being able to recreate the aesthetic like u said is just decoration if there's no vision. sometimes the trend is simplicity, and even that can be performative for artists with no direction.. the intention is felt more than it is seen or heard in the music
English

@Taiki_Nulight noisia is a great example of expert sound designers, every sound coming out of the speakers is intentionally "designed" not just the crazy synths and stuff.. regardless, main thing that separates from slop these days is having taste and a vision which i believe is ur core point
English

@risskimusic i agree mostly, there will be exceptions tho. ai is different from other technology in many ways there are things we can compare it to tho, when digital replaced analog..indeed the culture suffered, but new opportunities were created. to suck harder but also to do unusual things
English

@killthenoise I mean the type of people who use AI to create music aren’t going to be creative enough to actually create anything new. They already lack the actual work ethic and skill to be creative haha. It’s a tool for lazy underachievers, who will never work hard enough at anything
English

as with all tools i don't doubt that ai will become an interesting tool to make sounds and things we don't already have , would love to see more nerds make stuff that looks or sounds like something we've never heard before instead of inspector gadget dubstep
BOOTOSHI 👑@KingBootoshi
HOLY SHIT SUNO v5 CAN GENERATE INSANE RIDDIM DUBSTEP NOW I COMBINED IT WITH CLAUDE CODE TO CREATE RAVE VISUALS I CAN BECOME AN AI DJ NOW HAHAHAHAHAHA
English

@quacksonmusic also i doubt anyone under the age of 30 has any fuckin idea what im talking about with that one hahah
English

Wow, if all DJs/producers thought this way, they would all be the same.
There would be no variety of sounds because in the end they are all made with AI; if you do it, then I will too, and it becomes bland and unspecial.

@KingBootoshi the industrialization of art and perhaps all things was already underway the question i suppose ceos will be left having to answer for their shareholders is who will want to live in this new world that they built that no one cares about.. of course we already know.. ai bots
English

personally i am trying to make a self evolving ai universe based off my original art to re-factor them into animations
to give a visual life to the agents i run in a d&d sim
with ai gen tools for image/audio im curious to see how it unfolds, its a way for me to see an idea i have in my head evolve into its own thing
i’m an ai dev, so i explore all the tools possible to make this vision in my head a reality
i’m excited because it feels like i’m in a lucid dream where i can imagine things and they just spawn in front of me, and i can use that to start building on top of each other
BOOTOSHI 👑@KingBootoshi

@KingBootoshi catching up to what? i wonder what the picture of the future looks like to tech bros? what inspiring message is behind this? is it democratizing music or is it just selling out the aesthetic of culture to make ai stock go up and sell off and leave everyone else with nothin...
English

@killthenoise i agree ! i don’t plan on doing the same but i’m so excited to know it is finally catching up
English

@KingBootoshi ai can't be put back in the bottle however i don't think using it to recreate things we already have is gonna do much except astro turf a space that was already headed that way anyway what im more interested in, is how tools can be used to build community and culture
English

@killthenoise we have to test what’s possible first before we push it to the limit
i share my posts/outputs as “checkpoints” for people to understand the current progress of tech
i believe we’ll start to see what you desire soon!
