In the wake of the SC verdict on benefits post conversion, there is a huge outcry particularly in Andhra. Manda Krishna garu who the BJP courted in Telangana, including Modi ji's personal outreach is unfortunately leading the charge against the verdict and mobilizing. Sadly, instead of looking at the systemic dangers of incentivising conversion and huge demographic challenge in Andhra and the morality that the judgement restores, he chose the familiar and easy trope of attacking Brahmins and spewing venom making outrageous claims around itihasa. A chief element of his attack is around purohita and asserting that Brahmins monopolize it. The Brahmin community has come together on a forum to provide both clarifications around his misreadings and also to point to the immorality of his attacks. A very respectful but clear clarification here listing the number of kshetras with non brahmin purohitas with many of them hereditary traditions. This is not an exception, every part of India will have such diversity and uniqueness while being tethered to Sanatana Dharma. That is the very design of that which upholds. People that argue Telugu is nothing without Sanskrit and another set of people that want to forcefully remove Sanskrit. Telugu is an independent language that can function without Sanskrit, but that doesn't mean we should forcefully remove Sanskrit by interfering to score political goals. Let Telugu be Telugu and evolve organically. Just give it a gentle nudge here and there to not overly Anglicise, Sanskritise, Persianise or whatever. And another nudge to start coining Telugu words for new concepts and inventions.
