My son loved the movie. We also both love The Martian movie. He has not read either book. I have read them both. However, I did not read The Martian until after I saw the movie. I thought the movie was great (still do) but the book is incredible. I read Project Hail Mary (multiple times) before the movie. I enjoyed the movie but was disappointed. When the movie was first announced, I was skeptical that they could pull it off given the amount of detail in the book. Since everyone mostly seems to like it, I guess they did that OK. They were never going to make a 4 hour movie. I would have liked Grace to have been a more competent scientist in the movie but I would have liked to have known that Mark Watney was both the mission botanist and its mechanical engineer. That would have help explain a lot.

A big problem with Project Hail Mary: the science and engineering is so dumbed-down that it's borderline comical. Problems get solved almost magically, with no process or iteration. He meets alien life, shows it a clock, and five minutes later is having conversations. (His laptop magically translated the language, I guess.) Grace is charming (unbelievably so) but isn't shown as a good scientist. He's shown as a fantastically-lucky scientist. The Big Bang Theory had a similar problem, pretending to be a show for smart, techy people but mostly just winking at it. In other words it's pop science when the world desperately needs hard engineering to be celebrated. Still a good movie, but not nearly the classic it could and should have been.

@NevrEnoughX Seating for 6 in a truck is a special use case. I don't want it in my Cybertruck and it wasn't an option in my Raptor. If I need to seat more than 5 regularly, I don't think a truck is the right choice. My $0.02

@makingwaveslsv @ESPNInsights @caydenmc The NCAA Division I softball record for most home runs by a freshman in a single season is 30. It's shared by Kelly Majam (Hawaii, 2010), Lauren Chamberlain (Oklahoma, 2012), and Jocelyn Alo (Oklahoma, 2018). Wells' 25 is impressive but still 5 shy.

Oklahoma's Kendall Wells leads college softball with 25 home runs, homering in 20 of her 33 games played this season 😱 Wells' 25 home runs ties the 1998 record for the most home runs by a freshman in SEC history, one shy of the overall SEC record 🥎

@TRHLofficial @BasedMikeLee But they won't really go into recess. They will have pro forma sessions so Trump can't make recess appointments. 🤮

Which story will senators rather tell their grandkids in 20 years? (A) “We kept working without a break for weeks on end; it was hard, but we passed the SAVE America Act, and it saved America” OR (B) “We could’ve saved America, but instead we took a two-week recess”
Mike Lee tweet media
Mike Lee@SenMikeLee

The only secret to passing the SAVE America Act is time and willpower. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was passed after a 72 day filibuster. After only 6 days on the Senate floor, Democrats are already looking for an exit. Don’t let up.

@LamarMK @cybertruck Yes. Got the update a few days ago. ANC appeared tonight on my drive home. I turned off the stereo and let it calibrate which it finished. So I have ANC but as others have said, I could not tell ANY difference. Maybe it will improve over time. 🤷‍♂️

I wish Tesla would offer a Cybertruck rear glass retrofit that can either roll down completely or have the middle section open. This would add a lot more functionality to the Cybertruck for camping. How hard would it be to do something like this? Tesla needs to start developing and offering cool upgrades for the Cybertruck. It's been out long enough now. Instead of waiting for the aftermarket to handle everything, they should get involved. The trucks would sell a lot more too if people saw factory customizable options they could add after purchase. @elonmusk @wmorrill3 @cybertruck @Tesla @tesla_na

These are a Godsend in Oklahoma. Francis energy hosts the vast majority of DCFC in the state and they all suck. They simply will not work with my Cybertruck. But they are converting that junk to Superchargers for business which will make traveling in Oklahoma much more EV friendly. I can't wait for the A&W site in Davis to come online. It's about 2/3 of the to Norman from Dallas and is a perfect spot (plus you can get a burger). They already converted a site at Crest Foods in Norman. Very good news.

Weirdest Tesla Supercharger I’ve ever been to. Unbranded?! Nothing nearby either, not even restrooms. There’s a train though. Durant, OK.

I got Starlink primarily for tailgating. I can use my phone to stream, but once 40-50k of you closest friends show up, the cell data basically comes to a complete halt. Since then I have found lots of other uses for it. I'm at a conference this weekend and am smoking meat for about 100 guys. The smoker control system works best when connected to the cloud but there's no internet where the smoker is. Now there is and I can monitor the smoke while attending the conference and don't have to camp out at the smoker. Plus, when I don't need it anymore, I just pause the service.

I am considering Starlink mini But.. 1. I have my phone connected 2. I have connectivity service in my CT (Kids can stream already) 3. I can’t do computer work while driving (Unsupervised FSD is not ready) I did road trip Dallas to Chicago back and forth, there was only 20min slow zone(not dead zone) for streaming Do I still need Starlink..? Where do you find useful? How do I explain to my wife that we need it? 🤔

Tesla FSD 14.2.2.5 obeys a Customs/Border Patrol agent at the Las Cruces, New Mexico checkpoint. Notice how FSD never comes to a 0 mph stop but moves forward and continues through when the agent waves me through.

@JonAcuff Leviticus is like a Tom Clancy novel compared to Numbers. What is the book of Numbers you ask? It's endless genealogies of people you've never heard of with names you can't hope to pronounce. It's all smooth sailing after Numbers though.

@Sam_Jeske You sir are insufferable, an example of everything wrong. We love her. If she hates us, we still love her. That's something the woke kind can't comprehend. We are proud of her and the way she has represented the USA.
