A thread of some of the best articles and documents about the Network State. Please use them to learn about what is happening here + share with others. The Network State is *essential* to understand what will happen when Trump takes office in 9 days.

voices inside the whirlwind saying the end is not destruction, saying two is not the answer, saying revolution is bigger than both of us, revolution is a science that infers the future presence of us.

By extension, I ask how does the design of our built environment enable the explorational space of fluidity of the individual in relation to a collective body?

John Jennifer Marx ends with the provocation: “Is there a core gender within ourselves, or are we only ever made in relation to the world that surrounds us? What, then, are our responsibilities to one another?”

@mcmansionhell His argument is stupidly false. As someone who has been temporarily unhoused and who has lived in an SRO to avoid being homeless, if that single room didn’t have a window I’d probably not be alive to argue why windows are a human need. Almost as if that’s the whole point.

Living in a SRO in my 20s kept me from being unhoused but having a window kept me alive.
Brigid Bergin@brigidbergin

.@NYCMayor talks about a modern- single room occupancy (SRO) concept. He describes his son who has a stove that he doesn’t think he knows how to turn on. He suggests you don’t need a window in a bedroom. “You don’t need a window when you are sleeping.”

@tcmurray I bring the topic to our Cities&Territories course and our housing studio @ RPI Architecture, particularly addressing aesthetics of exclusion/inclusion & alternative affordable housing models that help combat displacement. But many critics think it falls outside the discipline.

@TheChrisTharp @nayibbukele I don’t write about El Salvador in this article but I do center US imperialism in PR; agree it cannot be overstated- my title is a nod to Julian Go’s xlnt piece “Chains of Empire, Projects of State: Political Education and U.S. Colonial Rule in Puerto Rico & the Philippines”.

@TheChrisTharp But maybe that’s ok as an interim for smaller micro-economies. I’m a fan of the technological solidarity movement and platform cooperativism & while of course these have challenges I would love to see how decentralized ledgers could work equitably run by and for Puerto Ricans.

@TheChrisTharp Hi Christopher thanks for engaging w/ the piece, to clarify I did not pose VyC as a solution but as an example of alternative economic efforts and movements by Puerto Ricans. There’s a range of other reasons community currencies cannot “compete” at scale with the US dollar
