Execution of Two More Political Prisoners in Iran; Rising Concerns Over Executions During War As the wave of executions in Iran continues, new reports say that two more political prisoners have been executed. Abolhassan Montazer and Vahid Bani Amerian were executed early Saturday, April 4, accused of having links with the “Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization" (People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran). Human rights groups have many times warned about these kind of cases, saying that many of these sentences are made without access to independent lawyers and based on forced confessions. Before their execution, Mai Sato (@drmaisato), the UN Special Rapporteur, had already expressed concern about their situation and asked for executions to be stopped immediately. She also mentioned that internet shutdowns make it very difficult to monitor what is happening. At the same time, Volker Türk (@volker_turk) and organizations like Amnesty International (@amnesty) have warned about the increase of executions in Iran and called for an immediate stop. According to reports, in less than three weeks and during the war situation, at least 6 political prisoners linked to the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization have been executed, which is raising more serious concerns about what may happen next.

Execution of an 18-Year-Old Protester: A Continuing Cycle of Repression The Iranian judiciary has announced the execution of Amirhossein Hatami, an 18-year-old protester arrested during the January 2026 protests. The sentence was issued following a trial criticised for its lack of transparency and due process. Meanwhile, reports about the transfer of several other detainees in the same case to undisclosed locations have raised concerns about imminent further executions.

One attack every six hours; IRGC increasing strikes on Kurdish parties under the shadow of Iran-Israel war After 21 days from the start of the conflict between Iran and Israel, attacks by Iranian forces and their affiliated proxy groups against bases of Iranian Kurdish parties in the Kurdistan Region have increased. During the first 20 days of this war, at least 120 drone and missile attacks were carried out on these party centers. According to these reports, in the past week, in average, one of these bases was targeted every six hours. As result of these attacks, at least five members of Kurdish parties have been killed. This comes while the IRGC yesterday published a statement asking residents of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq to immediately stay away from several specific areas. According to them, these places are said to be locations of Iranian Kurdish opposition groups. These developments are happening at a time when regional tensions are rising because of the Iran-Israel war, and concerns are growing about the conflict spreading to other areas, including the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
