dude i fucking wish marathon wasnt shrouded in controvercy before release. Universally all ACTUAL critics (not just the people who suck at fps games) have given the game an incredibly high review score and have said it scratches an itch many games dont.

@AdamCrigler It's definitely one of those big open world style games, which can seem boring to most gamers who are used to quick dopamine action game. If you aren't into breath of the wild style games it should be a pass for you.

@TheRooster Reapect youre take but hear me: bungie literally engages in psychological behaviour to get you hooked. Dopamine overloads, not good for you. No game im todays market should need me to play more to like it, if it does then ive probably fallen victim to addictiom created by them.

I’m enjoying it way more than I did in Server Slam, because: 1. Now I know which items I primarily need, and it makes looting actually purposeful as it should be. 2. I got used to the mechanics, shells, and maps. Fights are more fun. 3. It’s the full game, meaning my progress matters unlike Server Slam, so I actually care about my progression now. 4. There are so many different types of upgrades, and they make me wonder how good my runner can get over time. 5. Buildcrafting is deep and will be a big factor in mid and end-game. I feel like items like cores will change how you want to play to take full advantage of them. And you’ll also be able to put on items that support your playstyle. 6. The idea of a ranked mode in an extraction shooter sounds really exciting to me as a competitive gamer. I hope they designed it well. If I keep playing the game when ranked arrives with Season 1, I’ll definitely grind it. 7. Not super curious about the lore, but I still wonder what else I’ll find out. Factions/characters are interesting. A small factor, but worth mentioning. “You’ll like Marathon more as you play more” wasn’t BS for me so far. There are still things that I don’t like about the game, but overall I’m enjoying it at the moment.

I’ll confess something about Marathon I’m having fun. And I know why:
