It can get MUCH worse, especially if left to the market in a time of war related disruptions. You cannot accuse OMCs and Refineries of making undue profits one day then argue that all oil pricing should be handed over to them as a solution the next.

It cannot get any worse. The price will decrease. And remember the govt owns the largest Oil Marketing Company (PSO) which in turn owns PRL. And govt also has 60% ownership of PARCO refinery. So how can prices go up. And isn’t it a case that refineries are making excessive profits right now. So why not just deregulate it and make sure refineries and OMCs don’t overcharge. This is something the govt should have done years ago but as always this Noon govt is just happy to waste time.

This is why @SKhaqanAbbasi and our party is saying that we should deregulate petrol and diesel prices. This is why I posted two days ago that govt, by using Platt’s index, is giving excessive profits to refineries at the cost of the consumers. Even today the government should say it will not set diesel and petrol prices anymore and let the market decide. You will see that in a couple of weeks prices will start to come down. But this govt would rather favour the refineries than help the consumers.

Following intervention, the girl child, Lakshmi Kolhi has been taken into protective custody by the police and FIR has been registered. The man she was married off to is also in custody & both will be presented before the court tomorrow.

Mirpurkhas: 12-Year-Old Hindu Girl Abducted, Forced Religious Conversion, and Marriage A deeply disturbing incident has come to light near Bukhari Farm in the Kot Ghulam Muhammad area of Mirpurkhas District, where a 12-year-old Hindu girl, Laxmi Kolhi, was allegedly abducted, forcibly converted, and married off. According to available information, Parvez Mari, a resident of Bukhari Farm village, allegedly lured the minor girl Laxmi Kolhi and took her to Pir Umar Jan Sarhandi in Samaro. There, after forcibly changing her religion, the girl was married off. Sources also reveal that to conceal the girl’s actual age, her age was falsely recorded as 19 years on the religious conversion certificate. This is not only a blatant violation of the law but also a grave injustice to the impoverished Hindu families of Sindh. This incident comes at a time when child marriage is legally prohibited under the Child Marriage Restraint Act in Sindh. Despite this, groups associated with Sarhandi in Samaro allegedly continue to convert minor Hindu girls and arrange their marriages, which is deeply tragic and unjust. Social activists and leaders representing minority communities have expressed grave concern over the increasing cases of abduction, forced religious conversion, and forced marriages of underage girls, particularly among Hindu and other minority communities in Sindh. Despite existing laws, the lack of effective enforcement has allowed such incidents to continue and even rise. Civil society has demanded that the Sindh government, law enforcement agencies, and human rights organizations take immediate notice of the incident, recover the girl, return her to her family, and take strict legal action against those involved. CDA has sent demolition notices to multiple katchi abadis in Islamabad (including allama iqbal & rimsha colony) home to 1000s of working class Christian families, ordering them to vacate in 1-2 days. This is despite a recent hearing in the FCC where previous stay orders against summary demolitions were maintained. These are unlawful actions in violation of SC/FCC orders & a humanitarian catastrophe in the making, amid a worsening inflationary crisis in the country. We need an urgent intervention to prevent 1000s of families being made homeless overnight. All this can be avoided with some careful planning in accordance with existing resettlement policies. Hope reason & basic humanity will prevail.
