Everyone says it's phones, but they themselves are only a consequence of an overt privileging of visual culture over all other forms. You can read books on your phone, after all! It's not phones themselves but what's pumped through them. It's easier to add ads to a YouTube videos

@CJHandmer What I realized after having a kid is that parenthood gets a bad press because the downsides are very obvious and easy to explain, while the benefits are almost impossible to communicate to anyone who hasn't experienced them

In retrospect I drastically underestimated how much I would enjoy children, and had I been correctly calibrated I would likely have had more and sooner. Now I'm unsure I'll be physically capable by the time grandchildren come.
