What makes a "thing" a thing is its relative frequency. Fast activity can perceive slow activities. Slow activities cannot (easily) perceive faster activities (or perceive them as "multiple distinct things")

@DefenderOfBasic So, a noun is just a slower verb?

I have a "thing" with my wife and if I don't sync up often enough it becomes a very different "thing". Everything changes and the frequency of observation sets the integration chunk size. Bigger the chunk, harder and more error prone.

all I've ever wanted to do was tell you all, all of you, everything on my mind. There are a lot of evil people in my mind. I do not wish to hurt them. But I cannot protect them. The only way I cannot protect them is by silencing & killing myself. I will do this no longer

You're not hurting them if it's self defense, they're hurting themselves , technically the scarcity and evil patterns that are capturing them is All you're doing is bringing balance to the force, an exorcism might be uncomfortable for the demon, but the freed person on the other side will be better for it

@queenwartooth there is a proper way to do it without succumbing to the bloodlust of revenge. I will find this way and I will do it @suntzugi

@tunient @AtticDaddy @nosilverv > legit claims rejected yes. Like the incentives here are that optimizing for paying out legit claims makes you MORE profit long term, UNLESS other insurers are winning via fraud (not paying out legit claims). Claude helping fight that levels the playing field

@DefenderOfBasic @AtticDaddy @nosilverv not in management (yet) and not sure what "increased fraud" means (legit claims rejected, something else?), but afaict: - premiums + lower admin costs increase profits - sometimes there's competition between insurers (except employer sponsored health) x.com/mseebach/statu…
Martin Seebach@mseebach

@patio11 Also important: If rates go up, but the risk of having a legitimate pay-out rejected goes down correspondingly, the consumer is actually *better* off.

@IaimforGOAT @hermittoday @solarlion like we have a moral responsibility almost to be good curators/stewards/develop our taste/vouch for what we believe in but without excess or embellishment

@IaimforGOAT it is important to grow in terms of responsibility and discernment here - the rate at which they fund these things will increase if good things happen when they do, and decrease if the projects don't go anywhere (or blow up) @hermittoday @solarlion

confession: sometimes I RT a thing in the hopes any millionaire or billionaire that follows me (weird to type it out, but true) sees it and they find it interesting enough to fund it. it's 1% on top of 0.01% chance of it happening, but it's my way of doing universe's bidding.

@AtticDaddy @nosilverv what is your proximity to management (in general/in your career)? Do you understand why patio is claiming companies do NOT optimize for increased fraud? (they optimize for increased profit, the fraud increases to the extent that there's no mechanism to catch it?

@DefenderOfBasic @nosilverv I got his point and completely disagree. Faster? Wouldn’t it be faster if they used Claude as well.. They’re not going to take higher payout rates on the chin no matter how “optimal” 😂

@AtticDaddy @nosilverv Patio's thread argues this isn't going to happen (in fact the reverse will happen, companies would rather people use Claude than messily try without help) Everyone have a lawyer makes things faster for BOTH sides. It's not an arms race. It converges to an optimal point

@nosilverv It’s going to be an arms race
GenGoon@AtticDaddy

@patio11 The insurance companies will have their own custom tuned Claude for their defense to limit claims. The cat is not going to simply accept that they’re eating less mice
