@SawyerMerritt While I also wish they would add things that work for intel and hw3 cars I get why they aren’t incentivized to do so, in fact quite the opposite. Tesla is hoping you’ll buy a new one

Tesla's Spring software update has officially been unveiled. Here's what's new: • New Self-Driving App: Lets you subscribe with a single tap & learn about how to activate and use the feature. You can also view ongoing stats. AI4 hardware cars only. • Blind Spot Warning Accent Lights: Accent lights now turn red when an object is in your blind spot and your turn signal is engaged, or when an approaching object is detected while parked. • Launch Grok by saying "Hey Grok." You can also set location-based reminders, like "remind me to pick up milk when I'm near home." Say “goodbye” to dismiss Grok. • Pet Mode: Choose from dog, cat or hedgehog to display when Pet Mode is active. Also optionally customize the screen with your pet's name by going to Controls > Display > Customize Pet Mode • Car Visualization (New Model 3 & Y): A new park scene environment & higher quality car visualization. • More Trips: Create multiple trips to track energy stats across drives. Quickly access your trip’s consumption by swiping left on the media player. • Sketchpad: Now supports stickers & emojis. You can also save your sketches to access them in the Mobile App & share. • Model S & X owners can now personalize their Tesla avatar with window tints, custom wraps & license plates. • Immersive Sound (New Model 3 & Y w/ premium audio): Premium Immersive Sound uses advanced sound extraction to place the listener in front of a detailed soundstage within an Immersive space. This enhancement works with all streaming sources. • Your Tesla can now automatically install downloaded software updates overnight. When enabled, updates will install while your Tesla is parked and not in use. • Weather maps now show snow and rain with improved colors that make it easier to distinguish between precipitation types. You can also view the past hour of weather data to see how conditions have been changing along your route. • Recent Dashcam footage can now extend up to 24 hours & you can save any clip for permanent storage on your Tesla Other Improvements • Swipe right on tracks in Apple Music or Spotify to add them to the queue. • Passengers in rear seats can now view and interact with maps on the rear display while your Tesla navigates a route

@IowaTesla There is a pretty decent chance they will charge separately for unsupervised unfortunately. Anything to maximize their profits.

Just got this email. They seem to be very careful to say you are buying FSD Supervised. I will be upset if they start charging me for unsupervised at some point.

@SawyerMerritt I still think the Model S is the best sedan made. I have owned many cars over the years and it’s by far the best.

By June 30, 2026, Tesla will officially discontinue the Model S and Model X. Since the Model S rolled out in 2012 and Model X in 2016, about 740,000 of them have been delivered, each one helping define an era of Tesla’s and automotive history. Salute to two amazing products 🫡

Going to say this now, if @Tesla removes all steering wheels and pedals in the future I will not be a customer. Long live the option to enjoy driving.

@briandstone Tesla at this point will only do what makes the most money per square foot in their warehouse. The S and X were a distraction, even though they are superior vehicles, from an economic sense, not the way to maximize profit.

I do not understand this decision. While I agree the S&X are VERY dated and due for a total overhaul, discontinuing them completely is very confusing to me. Tesla will only offer the 3/Y/CT which isn't a very well rounded offering at all. The 3 & Y aren't comfortable to me and the CT is a technological marvel but its looks are polarizing to say the least and appeal to a limited audience. The S&X should have been replaced by new "luxury" models. I find it extremely boring and bland to park at the grocery store and all of the vehicles are the same model. People like choice.

BREAKING: Elon Musk has announced that @Tesla is discontinuing the Model S and Model X in Q2 2026. "We are going to convert that production space to an Optimus factory. It's part of our overall shift to an autonomous future."

@blktsla It does make economic sense. Sales of the 3/Y are so much more, if you have to double down on something do it on what makes the most money. And while the s and x probably do make as much or even more per vehicle than the 3/y, Tesla can’t justify the engineering floor space

Yet another horrible decision imo, they seem to be on a roll. So no new vehicles just robots and cybercabs and if you want to "drive manually" buy a 3/Y or competitor?

@wholemars I agree. I think they will lower it actually. They need mass adoption and that’s not happening at $99 a month. You won’t be able to transfer which means the breakeven is 6 1/2 years assuming it stays at $99. Not a good monetary decision.

@NotATeslaApp I mean I get it they are niche cars and not worth the effort from a profit standpoint, but then by that measure should Toyota kill all vehicles but the Tundra, Camry and Corolla?.

Tesla has just announced that they're killing off the Model S and Model X. "It's time to bring the Model S and X programs to an end with an honorable discharge." Tesla will wind down S/X production next quarter and switch it to an Optimus production line.

Why is Traffic Aware cruise control without Autosteer in a Tesla even an option? That’s like making a car without a brake pedal? I would never enable a cruise control that couldn’t also do lane keep. It’s extremely dangerous since lane keep is usually standard in most cars.

@wholemars From a code stack use case yes Autopilot is obsolete vs FSD but for the average user who is fine with Autopilot functionality for highway driving, they consider it good enough, and won’t chase FSD if they get good enough for free. Therefore Tesla is trying to force the issue.

@IowaTesla The issue was autopilot was being used over FSD because it’s free and good enough for most users. Where I live I know many Tesla owners and none use FSD. Thry either just drive it or use autopilot. Giving AP for free was taking away from FSD subscriptions.

Microsoft used to charge for Windows. Apple used to charge for MacOS. They both realized that charging for the OS was limiting their growth and not locking in customers to their platform. I think Tesla is making a mistake here. By removing Autopilot and saying that the subscription cost of FSD is going to go up, they are not do anything to keep customers hooked on Tesla. Kinda feels like they aren't interested in selling cars anymore and are pivoting to something else...

@DirtyTesLa I think it’s a smart move to sell FSD to those who want a Tesla for the tech regardless, but if you were considering a Tesla as an option in addition to other brands with many who have free auto steer these days, it may hurt their sales

@MissJilianne My guess is UNSUPERVISED will only be an option if you purchase Tesla insurance so they accept liability and be compensated as such from their customers.

@Project_RCC @Tesla_AI @NHTSAgov They already have issues with the NHSTA. No need to give them ammunition by adding more features that break the law. Besides we shouldn’t be teaching illegal behavior just as you need to come to a complete stop for a right on red, if not you get a ticket.

It's this simple.. @Tesla_AI By default, satisfy @NHTSAgov conditions. But give a Rolling Stop option. Tell us it's illegal. Be clear on the conditions for rolling stops. Let us choose to enable. No different than us choosing to go 30mph over speed limit in MadMax. @DirtyTesLa @AIDRIVR

@DirtyTesLa I have heard there are map issues that can cause problems, and some users have had the take over immediately alert. Those need to be fixed first. Take over immediately should NEVER happen. I assume it doesn’t for Robotaxis or that would be a problem with no one in the driver seat

@wholemars The software is separate from the car as it’s not required for use. It’s an option like any other optional feature except it’s not tangible. Monthly subscription also makes for a more predictable revenue flow for Tesla rather than random spike purchases of FSD.

@smartfeedman You’re not buying software, you’re buying a car. The car includes the software. That was the principle of the old model, which was designed to let you roll it into your car loan. Monthly subscription lets you pay for it like modern software, which makes more sense.

The deal was never that you buy FSD once and get to use it for the rest of your life. It was buy FSD on this car and you get to use it on that car. Tesla has provided a “one time” FSD transfer option now many times. If you want to transfer FSD to a new car, do it now.
Tesla King@TeslaKing420

@SawyerMerritt This doesn’t sit well with me. Many of us paid $8,000 or more for FSD, and we should be allowed at least a one-time transfer to a new vehicle.

@elonmusk Um, ok, except people don’t upgrade cars like they do phones, unless we start having customers only do 2 year leases. Raining the user base for a 9 month HW cycle without a retrofit option will almost certainly crush purchases.
