I hear rumors of a Tesla Model S Plaid Final Edition, anyone else hearing about this?

The retro futuristic open center console adds some extra legroom (width) to the Y which is notable for those needing more width. However, it suffers the same problem as the OG S in that whatever you put there will slide around alot.

@DevinOlsenn @BLKMDL3 Very disappointing considering that Rivian is the only one using the Tesla playbook. Thats the one area you'd think they'd nail.

@BLKMDL3 @blktsla Yup - I spent some time in a Rivian the other day to do my UHF test and I was surprised at how unintuitive the menus were. And honestly how laggy the UI was, especially dealing with the maps.

Tesla has the best UI and software in the automotive industry, hands down.

@TMC_FSD Its the traditional Tesla storage area on the floor between driver and passenger made to resemble the flooring on a yatch. Classic S had it, Cybertruck has it and now Y standard has it.

@sheldonkee Ah forgot to mention that also on the classic S. Def odd not having the glass roof, feels darker and more closed off obviously, but not terrible surprisingly.

NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory Express) is a high-performance storage protocol designed specifically for SSDs, using the PCIe bus to deliver lightning-fast data transfer speeds, significantly lower latency, and massive parallel queue support compared to SATA. It acts as a direct connection to the CPU, eliminating bottlenecks for gaming, professional content creation, and data centers. The dedicated GPU was also in service if high performance gaming using rhe GPU instead of the CPU frees up the CPU for other non-gamjng tasks.

Interesting that for the 2025 model S/X cars, Tesla cut costs on the car computer considerably. The dedicated GPU is gone (good thing all the crazy gaming stuff is gone from the website too). The RAM still remains at 16G though unlike the current crop of 3/y/ct, the NVMe is dropped to 128G (from 256)

This is why we spent so much time on my UPL. The @Tesla_AI and their leadership knew, this was a hard problem to solve. For me on HW4 it is VERY good, not perfect, but I would take my UPL over what this video shows EVERY day. Bravo to @Tesla_AI.

Why Tesla shouldn’t cancel the Model S 🤞

As someone who's bought 5 of them i can say utility is a factor. Model S is a sports car and family sedan all in one, that makes for a very compelling offering. I dont need to tow with it or have a flatbed in the back but the fact that I can get groceries, have car seats in the rear and go into the Plaid zone when by myself is very valuable. Roadster will likely not have as much space and will cost double the price. I'm still getting a roadster but there is a gap in the lineup that will be missed.

@blktsla Utility probably may be reduced but realistically not by much, maybe 1 less passenger with the roadster and some reduction in trunk space, but being realistic. Does one really buy a model s plaid for utility, not really, you buy a utility purpose vehicle instead......

@WaltC81706 Cheaper cars will always outsell more expensive cars, thats not a reason to stop selling your top performance vehicle.

Not really, the real value of the Model S is its overall utility + performance + price. You can carry the family around and then go to the drag strip for all for less than the nearest or furthest competitor (excluding SU7). Roadster will beat it on performance but not utility or price.

@blktsla When the roadster aka model s 2.0 comes out, probably a good reason why not to make it anymore.....
