Imagine receiving a council tax bill for over £23,000. A recently widowed friend of mine has a holiday let which provides her main income. She’s in her 70s. Due to the 183 day rule and the premium imposed on houses that are not reaching this threshold, this is the backdated 3 year bill that she has just received.
