@timehack

Good judgment comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement. The preferred pronoun of conspiracy theorists is “they.”

Do Americans genuinely believe this? Your country is deeply homogenous and has been since the New Deal

Why are all these autonomous boatbuilders like @Saronic insisting they’re “shipbuilders”? Warboat sounds cooler than warship anyway. Maybe I’m wrong. Let’s vote on it. Which sounds better?

A VFA-41 "Black Aces" Rhino on the ball, rocking the definitive "Heater Wagon" counter-drone loadout: four AIM-9Xs and a lone AIM-120. This is U.S. Navy's agile answer to low-RCS threats, built around high-off-boresight IR engagements. Interestingly, while the USAF and USMC have integrated laser-guided APKWS for low-cost drone kills, the Navy’s Rhino fleet still lacks a dedicated guided rocket capability. So until that happens, they're stuck using $430,000 Sidewinders to swat $20,000 targets 🫣

@mechokku_l2 King Harold forgetting to pack his arrow-proof helmet for the Battle of Hastings. Rumor has it he didn’t want “hat hair” to detract from the glow-up he’d gotten in prep for his Bayeau Tapestry portrait session.

@MilHistNow My favorite Bulge movie is Castle Keep. My father’s preference for Volkswagens may have been an influence.

It's possible that veterans of the Battle of the Bulge suffered more than other Americans who fought in WW2. First, they had to endure the Ardennes Offensive of 1944, which was bad enough. Then 21 years later, this movie was released...

One thing that’s been lost culturally is the satisfaction of hanging up on someone. You’d slam this fucker down and if you were mad enough you might even get a little “ding” from the ringer. Trust me when I say it felt fucking great.

Is The Hague the only city with the definite article in its name? For years I'd hear 'The Hague' and assume it was a building or institution.

The demographic time bomb faced by China is far, far worse than realised. The systematic misreporting of births by local officials is only now being fully understood. The impact for China in the coming years will be profound.

@HQNewsNow @MalcolmNance So really on Memorial Day we should celebrate those that DIDN’T give their last full measure in combat, esp those smart enough to have dad buy them a phony get-out-of-the-draft bone spur diagnosis. Those are America’s TRUE heroes.

Trump says the Presidential Medal of Freedom is “much better” than the Congressional Medal of Honor because the Medal of Honor is for people who are “in very bad shape because they've been hit so many times by bullets or they're dead” while the Medal of Freedom is for “healthy, beautiful” people

@olivertraldi @CSMFHT He walked the length of that warship daily, anticipating the return of his wife. On the day of their reunion, he went ashore to greet her, but his men carelessly ran the ship onto a sand bar. They grounded the warship he walked on. . . . I’ll get my coat.

People say this is a lot, but there's no implication in "First World War" that more will come, just that it hasn't happened before. When I said "This is the first time I've had sex", I had no expectation that it would even happen again.

@kchawg987 Most call sign stories seem to require at least a drink at the O-club, so thanks. Some stories aren’t shared with civilians like me (zero throttle excursion tron geek). And some are obvious, like a Navy LT I met with the call sign “Disco.” The look on his face told me don’t ask.

Every pilot’s call sign has a story. Mine? Squadron bar. Friday night. Naming new pilots. Stories only have to be 10% true… so I had no idea what I was walking into. They called me in. KC. I thought, “That’s lame…those are just my initials.” Then I heard it: Killer Chick.

@quantizematrix @politicsusa46 If you learn the world history, you would have known that China was the richest for centuries until mid-18th century, your country trafficked opium into China; following the Opium War of 1840, it joined w/ 7 west nations to carve up China's wealth for a century, China became poor

Often in America, it’s a crime to tell the truth about China. I’ve been called a communist lover, a Chinese apologist and much more. I have always said, don’t shoot the messenger, it’s not my fault that they lifted 800 million people out of poverty and built the world’s most advanced infrastructure in just 40 years. It’s not my fault they have a $1 trillion trade surplus are years ahead of the West on nuclear energy technology, have a 70 % share of the global EV market, process 93% of the worlds rare earth minerals, and have one of the most educated population in the world. For the purpose of clarity I thought I’d let Jason Huang (CEO of NVIDIA) tell the story of Chinese innovation, in the hope that we can dispense with this nonsense that America is the only country on earth that matters. IT’S NOT, and it’s this ‘we are the greatest’ mentality that is leading to its decline. A decline not helped by having a convicted criminal in the White House. It is interesting to note that Trump admires Xi, but if Trump was carrying out his corruption in China, he would have been executed by now. Xi is just sitting and watching as a madman sets fire to the future of a once great nation. 🎥 TikTok - vm.tiktok.com/ZNRt5ptCJ/
